Louisville broken dream/ U of L Running Back breaks leg out for season (merged)

Re: Louisville broken dream

Yea, I wasn't sure what happened b/c I was in the kitchen when it happened and I was only partially listening.

I don't like it when anyone on any team gets hurt. That's terrible.

Re: Louisville broken dream

U of L Running Back breaks leg out for season

Well it's another one of those things that happenin football, Michael Bush broke his leg after already having scored 3 TD against a hap less Kentucky team..........What was patrino thinking having him in the game when Louisville was handling Kentucky so easily. ( This is tongue and cheek folks so don't go off the deep end on me.)

That's what I'm talking about.

Patrino won't get grilled by the media like Shula did, but it is almost the exact same circumstance, except Florida would be more likely to mount a comeback than Kentucky.

It was only midway through the second quarter when it happened wasn't it?

You can't just pull your starters when it is 28-7 in the second.

Re: Louisville broken dream

Tackling by the shoulder pads collar should be outlawed...

I didn't see the game, but was it a tackle from the back collar of the shoulder pads and jersey, or what is called a horsecollar? If so, the NFL outlawed this sort of tackle after Terrell Owens got hurt in 2004 as a result of this horsecollar tackle. The NCAA should do the same. I cringe everytime I see someone tackled this way.

This was not a horsecollar tackle. It was an akward tackle from the side. The UK defender had one hand on the numbers on Bush's back and the other hand on the front of Bush. As he was being pulled down from the side, Bush's right foot seemed to get caught in the turf. The UK player's momentum then carried him into Bush's right leg.

It looked like the defender had a hold of the collar from the side to rear. I saw no jersey stretching. I turned my eyes quickly and told my wife, "he's got a broken leg". She asked, "how could I tell?" I explained the angle of how the defender fell on him and then when he didn't get up, I knew it for sure. It would have been flagged in the NFL and the player would have been fined heavily because the defender used his entire body to drag down Bush.
