Amen, brother.

I think it speaks to two things. First the strength of the original culture. Former players feel ownership and and obligation to keep it going….to the point of sitting down with Saban (not exactly known as a guy who takes criticism well), and telling him that the current product doesn’t meet the culture’s standard.

Second, if Saban thought about it afterward, he had to wonder who among the current team is so bought in that he would come back in, say, 2026 to deliver a similar message? I’m guessing the list would be painfully short.

Good for Bo. It sounds like Saban has taken to heart his thoughts and those of other alumni.

Finally, just me pondering here. I’m wondering if Scott Cochran’s role in perpetuating the culture and standard might have gone beyond the strict confines of S&C.
I think the “rah rah “ is necessary, but in regards to him personally I think he and Alabama outgrew their relationship together. Kirby saw an opportunity to weaken Alabama, and maybe it did, but only on the emotional side. Hopefully this will be addressed across the staff this year.

Here’s something to think about: At one point Alabama had two high profile coaches with alcohol issues on the staff.

The coaching profession being what it is, I’d bet there are more.

Degrees of the problem vary, and some function better than others But I’d be surprised if any P5 program doesn’t have at least that many with at least some struggle.

Asking again if someone would research how many 3rd and longs we've had this year.

Just when I think I couldn't be more disappointed in the offense this year I watch that first half of Bama/AP and I'm at a new level of disbelief.

That is funny because he was lighting Bama up before he got hurt.
Well, that’s the thing. I watched part of that TCU game, too, and was wondering, “Why does this guy (and practically everyone else, for that matter) look otherworldly against us, and then stink it up against everyone else?”

They all have Bama marked on their calendar. And practice a lot more for the Tide, sometimes weeks or months ahead. If that's not it, then IDK.

Muschamp would be the equivalent upgrade to Gol*ing as Saban was to Shula.

And I'm not even suggesting that your assertion is wrong...
At least you wouldn’t have a bunch of guys playing like they just wandered in from a poodle groomers’ convention.

Not sure if already mentioned, but if DC comes open, what about Kevin Steele? I know he’s having a hard go of it in Miami, but he’s been very successful in the SEC and obviously a former assistant under Saban here. Runs a physical defense.
Does anyone know what terms he and Saban are on?

This is the thing that has stood out to me all year long on both sides of the ball. Our lack of production on 1st and 2nd downs and our opponents’ success, particularly on first down.

It seems we have been constantly in 2nd & 8+ or 3rd & 6+ situations all season on offense. Our opponents have 2nd and 6 or less or 3rd and short all year long.

On our drives for TDS yesterday against APSU in the first half, we had to convert 4th downs to keep drives alive. That is absurd.
