The game is meaningless in that the outcome doesn't mean anything. If Alabama loses, does it mean they stink? No, it doesn't. Does it mean K-State is this phenominal team? Hell no! If Alabama wins doe it even matter? Nope, because people will have the exact same opinion they had before the game was played. Will I still watch? Of course. Do I still want to win? Of course. I just hope the players care enough to try their best to dominate. With today's generation, I have doubts that players will care since this is not for a championship. Or maybe I am just an old cynic?
You sure ask a lot of questions... :)

And both the Austin Peay and Auburn games 'didn't matter' under that line of thought.

I just don't buy that real fans consider the games meaningless.

At least he provided his own answers :D

[Edit] ... except for the "old cynic" question - which might be answered by a show of hands

Thank goodness they’re playing, although I wouldn’t have been mad if they sat either but man what a great Christmas present for Bama Nation.

I also think this can set a great tone for next season even though Bryce and Will won’t be there, it sends a message that Alabama is still a very strong program with stable culture.

Interestingly enough, in an age of significant NIL streams, playing in a meaningless game could be good for their personal brand. If their expected revenue streams were purely from player contracts, that would have less weight.

Thank you. If the Sugar Bowl is meaningless, every regular season game played after a team is out of the playoff race is meaningless.
Exactly right. Using that logic a team like Colorado had almost an entirely meaningless season so they could have just forfeited their remaining games after week 3 or 4, but they didn't.

And what Trevor Matich just said at half of the Cure Bowl is the reason I have nothing for him.

“Will and Bryce have nothing to prove. They are are top 10 picks. They are risking millions in an exhibition game. A meaningless game”

Then when asked “well they were virtually eliminated from the CFP after the second loss. Why not opt out then? By that logic, they shouldn’t have played then…”

Trevor response “now that is getting off in the weeds…”

In other words, “you nailed me so I’ll throw a cliche’ at you”.

Trevor is as worthless as an analyst as boobs on a boar hog.
