I almost guarantee he has a DC lines up already
There are rumors about Pruitt, the thing is sometimes outside forces interfere. If Pruitt is blocked as DC I'd think there would be at least momentum towards him as an analyst, in which case whoever is DC would be looking over their shoulder.

There are some rumors about Schumann, but the main appeal he would have is that he gets to run the defense on his own, something he has yet to prove he can do. So, I think he and Pruitt are extremely unlikely to both be employed.

Then there's Leonhard who has also been brought up some but he's also unlikely to want to have Pruitt lurking around. The only way I'd say him working out in that situation is if he and Pruitt both basically had a two year plan in place in which Pruitt free of NCAA shenanigans takes over after Leonhard presumably gets the Saban magic and becomes a head coach.

I just really hope Pruitt is in the mix because he's one guy I have absolute certainty can successfully run Saban's defense. Either way, I'm sure Saban has been well aware of his options for some time. Golding was running his mouth around town and drinking it up for a while now so this was seen coming from some distance...

Go back and watch the game, Tennessee doesn't have 200 mins of offensive ball time if we run our offense effectively, we lost minutes on the field turning the ball over on third downs and not MOVING the chains. Offense has to run the ball, chew the clock up. I can envision without re-watching that sh!tastic game our offense starting at the 10-20 three or four times and THROWING PASSES every time, failing to capture a first down, just to punt the ball back to Tenn and give our D a short field. How do you expect the DC to shoulder the blame?

I just don't see this change as big of a W as you guys do, it would be better if paired with a new OC imo. At least until they announce his replacement.
This isn't my argument that you guys are having, but UT only had 23 minutes time of possession if I remember correctly. It was 37 to 23 in TOP in our favor. They scored 52 points in 23 minutes. Ouch!

And how do you know this? Were you with him? Were drinking it up with him?

Come on man, stop trashing the man. He's leaving and you dont know the reasons. Serious attempts were made to keep him.

We all just need to pray that we didnt ***** and gripe ourselves into getting Todd Grantham hired as DC...

As predictable as BOB has been, he put our offense into a position to win every game the last 2 years. Yes, even the championship game. It’s not his fault our backup WRs couldn’t catch.

If our defense is even remotely close to the Smart/Pruitt years, we are undefeated in 2021 and 2022. We should be looking at 3 straight undefeated seasons…

I cannot overstate how happy I am right now.

Without knowing anything I can say for sure that both these and any other hires were made weeks ago.
So Saban made a hire for a DC weeks ago while offering Pete $$$ to stay? Bama would have two defensive coordinators? Saban really is playing 3D chess.

As far as how I know, multiple sources including a first hand account from someone in the bar with Golding.
Word through the high school coaching network is that it's Pruitt and seems to be pretty much a done deal already
I've heard Pruitt was already saying the job was his. Mind you, this isn't from a reliable source or firsthand knowledge like you know... the Golding getting wasted thing but it's just what I heard.

while offering Pete $$$ to stay?
I really don't buy that and I haven't heard it yet from anyone reliable that was the case. It just makes no sense, especially when taken in the broader context. All of this reeks of how Saban has parted ways with other coordinators he didn't want, they make a lateral move and he moves on to the better coordinator. Saban is more than willing to let a coordinator he pushed out save face.

Edit: Let's put it this way, based on the information I've had I was pretty confident for over a month now that Golding won't be sticking around. Nothing I caught wind of indicated Saban was adverse to this. Now if Saban is caught flat footed on the hire, no Pruitt, none of the top tier names being floated them I might start to view things differently but thus far this has played out exactly like I wanted, and expected it to.
