FINALLY - someone in "national media" gets it (mostly) right about Brandon Miller (SI had it too and deleted it)...

TPD has always hated the students. It was true back in the '50s, when I started, and I'm sure it's continued. The cop's statement was downright libelous, but, of course, he can get away with it...
Was so in the '70s too.

Coach Saban is a smart man and entitled to his viewpoint, however, I'm going to have to disagree with him on this one. You can be minding your own business, taking care of your own business, and absolutely find yourself in the wrong place at the wrong time because of someone else's decisions/actions.

Our PR staff is ABYSMAL at their jobs.

That or CNS went off script in a way that’s damaging to our B-Ball program right slap in the middle of an NCAAT run.

I’m TICKED about this completely preventable distraction.
And you know the national media will probably pick up on it and drive it in the ground. Don't understand why he used the issues with one of his players to throw back to this, especially at this time when things were beginning to settle down a little. All statements concerning issues like this should always be run through PR.

I'm not sure if Saban's words were intentional or not.

On the one hand, he rarely if ever makes a public statement that isn't fully thought out and delivers exactly the message he wants, to his target audience (not always the questioner), in the exact phrasing he wants. Which would lead you to think he used the "wrong place wrong time" wording intentionally.

On the other hand, I don't see what motive he might have for choosing Oats' unfortunate words as the center of this message.

Regardless of intent, I think he could have delivered his message using other phrasing.

And yeah....where is the Athletic Department's PR function? I don't know who's in charge of that, but holy moly they're doing a horrible job.

I read a comment on twitter pointing out that CNS does have tunnel vision. He doesn't watch the news, only in the last few years started using email, and actually compared a loss to 9/11. He was saying that this may not have been an intentional jab at CNO. That said, I'm not sure how he wouldn't know about it.
