TAMU backing up truck loads of green backs for Mamas and Papas and the NCAA chasing after Tennessee for a Macdonald's bag with money in it. Truly the NCAA deserves to receive a show cause for how they have mismanaged things throughout their existence.
The difference is that Pruitt was directly distributing it to recruits himself. The situations are totally different between aTm and Pruitt.

Really, the difference is timing. The things Pruitt is accused of doing were in clear violation of NCAA rules at the time the NCAA has found that he did them. What ATM is doing is taking advantage of a gray area and an emasculated post-NIL NCAA...

incorrect. What he did is still a major violation today. University employees can’t directly pay athletes.

NIL collectives and individual donors operate with different rules.

Let’s face it. Bama, UGA and FSU most likely dodged a bullet during Pruitt’s tenures as position coach/DC at those respective institutions. The only thing that prevented JP from pulling something equally arrogant and stupid was oversight by the HC and Athletic Department. Pruitt’s history of playing “fast and loose” goes all the way back his days under Propst at Hoover High.

Pruitt is a great defensive coach. But I don’t think many would accuse him of doing cold fusion experiments in the basement of his home in his spare time.

His career in the college game is most probably over, which is sad because he had an opportunity to be remembered as one of the really great DC’s in college football.

I say this: You can't convince me that JP arrived on the scene in Knoxville having no past relationships, and devised an elaborate cheating operation. The person behind the whole thing resigned as soon as allegations surfaced and Jeremy was let go. We all know who that POC is.

JP wasn’t operating at UT in a vacuum. Coach Krispy Kreme had his glazed coated fingers all over what was going in Knoxville. And Pruitt wasn’t smart enough to know if it all “hit the fan” Fulmer would pitch him under the bus and walk away scot free.

Back when Neyland was coaching UT the talk was of the Tennessee pay scale. They’ve always cheated and everybody has known it.

Suspension for a year... Likely will try and get that out of the way. Doesn't make sense to wait 6 years and then serve a year.... He'll do his time somewhere.. maybe at Alabama as analyst. And to those he likely won't coach again as DC .... Oh I wouldn't be shocked if he was back on Alabama staff next year

Now that I think about it. Saban did try to get Reverend freeze as OC so anything is possible.

That's the problem right there. And why I've always had a queasy feeling about him ever coming back to Alabama.

He played here. He played during the time period in which Alabama and Tennessee's rivalry may have been at is peak as far as animosity towards one another due in the most part because of Fulmer. He knew or should have known the line he was crossing when he took that job.

TBH I was as nervous “as a long tail cat in a room full or rocking chairs” when CJP came back as DC (from UGA) when Smart left.

There were a lot of things happening on the recruiting/staff front, according to folks I know in Athens, that CJP was actively involved with while coaching under Richt. It was pretty well known at the time that JP was not above reproach while recruiting there, especially when butting heads over prospects with UT or UF. Additionally, as things heated up on Richt, I’m told JP was actively bending the ears of influential boosters to help push Richt “out the door” and give him the job as HC. A very “Fulmer” type move.
