Bama Game Thread: Official Postgame Thread - Bama vs. LSU...

The flag was thrown because he drove him into the ground, meaning he fell on him with his entire body. Is the rule stupid and weak? Yes, but the call was correct. Those who are calling for targeting are wrong though.
Who cares? Why is that even a rule? Not arguing with you. The rule is the rule, of course, but it’s just frustrating. If he’s man enough to run up and down the field, he should be able to take a hit.

You dang right his intention was to knock him out of the game. That's the intention of every defensive player when they get a running free hit on the quarterback. It was a penalty, by rule, but it wasn't a dirty hit, vicious as heck, but not dirty.

I know as a LSU fan it bothers the crap out of you. But as a Bama fan, that type physicality and playing on the edge is a breath of fresh air. It's going to get us some penalties, but it's also sends a messsge. We bringing the wood and have intentions of using it.

That horse collar by Burns on Milroe had the same intention. If they had the shot, they would do it also.

The defenders are supposed to somehow break their fall so they don't land completely on the quarterback. I've seen some players try to do this by sticking their arms and legs out to try to get some contact with the ground. It is not easy to do and I've seen it still get called as roughing. It also seems like it would be awkward for the defender and put him at risk of injury.

I guess I don’t understand how you are supposed to execute a form tackle on a QB, and not have some part of your body land on top of him? That’s what happens when you tackle people. Like, what is he supposed to do, push him and hope he falls over?

IMO “driving a player into the ground” would entail pile driving a player like WWE.

wasnt even a vicious hit .. gravity just changed the optics.
With the elusive QB, Turner couldnt just push him like he would have other QBs. He had to wrap him.

You might want to go back and watch it, he absolutely tanked Daniel's. I got up from my recliner limping he hit him so hard. Daniel's may not be able to walk until Tuesday. He will be sore a while.

I hate Daniels got hurt, but that hit made my day.
Not since Colt got trucked have I seen anyone so thoroughly trucked.
I'm a Defensive type guy. It made my day.
