First rule of climbing out of a hole is to quit digging. We put ourself in a hole with the lost to Texas. If we keep climbing who knows. Just keep winning and enjoy the ride. If we don't make the playoffs it won't ruin my season.

All just posturing at the moment…the cream will rise to the top over the next four weeks…and I’m thinking OState, Washington, Bama, and Texas. Or Fl State and Oregon!
Or, you could just be smart like Georgia, Washington, Oregon, and Michigan and just not schedule anyone decent. Then you just wait for the committee to reward you for clubbing baby seals.
If Alabama hadn't schedule a true road game and Texas as OOC games they'd be ranked at least #4 right now.
We had two touchdowns called back due to penalties. The game goes in our favor if those plays stand
The committee seems to undervalues SOS especially for conference teams. If Washington played our schedule they would probably have four loses. I believe the committee is not needed. They should use the BSC ranking systems...now its a 12 team playoff moving forward the committee is even more pointless and leaves open manipulation and "other" human factors. The committee are able to manipulate the rankings in advance of future developments. future match ups. Like ranking SEC teams against each other through ranking. and there is going to be who gets the first round bye for the top four, right? I wish they would scrap the committee and just use a system like the BCS. How many times have we seen a team that racks up a million yards for the Pac 12 and then score 7 points against SEC Defenses. My whole life that has happened. Bama vs Huskies playoff game. Michigan State, Oregon/Barn, LSU/Oregon. Even back in the Shula days we smashed Texas Tech who were averaging 600 yards a game. It's hard to pass on your backside and even harder when you have elite cornerbacks and safeties. There are only so many of those to go around. There also did seem to be this effort to rank Pac 12 teams higher at the start of the season. Anyone with a brain knew USC wasn't in the top five or even top ten. And I would kind of think that Texas AM would have been ranked when we played them... Not in the top 25? They would beat Washington by 30 points. Anyone catch the last three Washington games, they blow. Cheers!
My take is -
1) Committee idea was just so that they can pick who they want and give BS reasoning. They are not leaving out conference champions however crappy the conference
Meaning they dont value SOS this early in game
2) They are making sure Bama doesnt sniff playoff if multiple teams above it take a fall and Bama is11-2
3) 100 % sure they will move Bama in top 4 if we are 12-1 .. and if there is contest with other conference champions for the spot they will justify it by wins over bowl eligible teams or some BS.

They have been setting up the "Texas beat Bema in Tuscaloosa thing" since before the game was played. And they have been hammering it on all the shows. I just read this...

They let TCU in and they lost their conference game. They put Texas ahead of a one loss Oklahoma. they contradict themselves over and over. Perhaps it will work itself out.. I think that if Bama wins out and Georgia loses a close one... they should both get in over others. Somewhere along the way the committee lost sight that it is suppose to be the "best teams"
David Hale of ESPN just put out a piece on the playoff rankings thus far and posted a very interesting comparison.
Team A: 5 wins vs. Quad 1 (i.e. top 35) teams in FPI, with its lone loss coming to a top-10 team
Team B: 5 wins vs. Quad 1 (i.e. top 35) teams in FPI, with its lone loss coming to a top-10 team.
"Clearly a good comparison ... except Team A is Alabama, and Team B is Oregon and Texas combined."
Despite the facts, which the media are completely ignoring of course, I see a problem coming for us if both Texas and Oregon win out. Let's hope the football gods do not allow this to happen. As someone else pointed out, they've helped us out in the past. RTR!!

Arguably the entire reason there is a playoff today is because of Bama and LSU getting into the BCS game together for a rematch. If Oklahoma State doesn't lose to Iowa State that year, we probably still wouldn't have a playoff.
Rinse and repeat...the definition of insanity....pick the saying...when B10 teams continue to get picked in the top 10 pre season and just play no one out of conference then this is what you get...I am looking forward to the usual, B10 vs whomever semi-final and a blow out...seems none of the CFP committee have the cajones to rank B10 teams where they should be. SOS means nothing and the "good loss" is lip service to the fact they wont acknowledge not all conferences are equal strength....they think the PAC2 is a strong conference this year.....

Because Oregon lost to an unbeaten #5 that everyone who saw the game knows they should have won.
When Washington loses, it will hurt Oregon, too.
Oregon over Alabama and Texas is the main debatable point at the top, but it won't matter.
Florida State hasn't lost - and beat LSU, which according to experts on Tidefans is a GREAT WIN for Alabama and DOES NOT MATTER when it's Florida State because something about early games don't count or some such whatever.
And the fact it's FSU.
UCF would not be ranked where FSU is right now if they were undefeated.
1) Alabama has won 2 national championships with atrocious SOS. One in the BCS and one in the playoffs
2) Georgia had Oklahoma on the schedule only for at last minute for the SEC to force them to cancel. It’s not like they had many takers to choose from for a replacement
3) Alabama is where they are because of what they did on the field. It’s hard to get past the fact they lost by double digits to another one loss team at home. I just don’t get why people are so surprised by it.
4) Michigan’s schedule is backloaded this year just like USC’s is. You can’t really blame them for being undefeated or beating the crap out of folks like they should.
With all due respect intended to you, I think - just my not so humble opinion - that Oregon was inevitably going to be ranked highly because of the inherent shallowness of the voters and public. I'll grant you folks were probably paying closer attention, but I honestly don't think ANYONE with a brain thought Colorado was good.
The voters get all hung up on HIGH-SCORING OFFENSES, no matter how those statistics are obtained. It's why they loved 2018 Oklahoma, it's why they love the 2-3 games a year they watch of Pac-12 football.
Defense is beautiful if you're an actual fan, but if you're not, it's hard to appreciate how tough and excellent a good DEFENSE can make a team look.
We are being hurt right now - in part - because we set an early season narrative of "Alabama has a pedestrian offense" in the Texas and USF games and didn't score a whole lot in the Ole Miss game, either.
It's wrong - but it is what it is. They think these offensive juggernauts cannot be stopped and cannot fathom it happening. The most important thing UGA did last year was NOT hold Oregon to 3 but to SCORE 49 points on them.
Remember: almost nobody watches the Pac-12, so you see those dazzling flag football highlights and it affects you. Same thing happened in 2001 when it was Joey Harrington.
It’s weird…. In 2017 we seriously had people saying “we beat FSU†in November like it really meant something. Now we want to ignore a week 2 game vs Texas and the fact that FSU skunked LSU in a neutral site game.
Really what it is… SOS doesn’t matter to most as much as “math that puts Alabama in the playoffsâ€Â
Bama can’t control what some group of goofs in a conference room decide. They can control their actions. If they win out and are SEC champs and that group of goofs lock them out then so be it. I will still consider this teams growth and accomplishments outstanding.
