Game Thread: Ole Miss @ UGA...

The only offense that can keep UGA's on the sidelines is the Bama offense. Lane has neither the talent nor the patience to stick with a murderball strategy and Coach Saban does.

Lane also has a Pete Golding defense.
The defensive play forced his hand on his offensive strategy, but it’s his fault he hired Golding. Got no one or blame but himself.

Y'all gotta remember that as bad as Gol*ing is, OM's defense is (rounded numbers):
- 3 ppg better scoring than 2022
- 31 ypg better rushing then 2022
- 9 ypg worse passing than 2022
- 23 ypg better in total D than 2022

Yeah, he doesn't meet Bama's standards, but OM only dreams of Bama's standards. I'd suggest that even after today Lane doesn't regret hiring Gol*ing.

I get it, but I would have rolled the dice on a young up and comer from the group of 5 or a hot position coach from a school Power 5 school with a good defense. It may backfire but no way you think Golding is really the answer even if he is a slight upgrade.

And was given the keys to a premiere program as his first (and most likely, only) head coaching gig.
Yep. A wealthy kid who inherited the company.
Rich kids tend to stay rich. Especially those who learn their craft from the best.

I think I'm actually glad UGA is trouncing Ole Sis. If they slogged by or (heaven forbid) lost, our team might sleep on them in SECCG. This way, there is no way UGA is sneaking up on them...

If Lane doesn't hire him, he is still at Bama. <Shudder>.

But the QB talent pool dropped a ton from last year.

You're letting your dislike blind you.

Gol*ing won't field an elite defense, but he's a good DC for a vast majority of teams out there, including OM. OM doesn't have the same goals Bama does, they don't have the same standards. They certainly don't have the same players. Saban has missed on young guys, Gol*ing is a known quantity - not good enough for Bama, but very good for most.
