I wonder if the SEC can swap Texas A&M for another Texas school, say UTEP or Sam Houston State. I thought the barn was a mess but where does firing Fisher for this amount of money rank in college footballs annals of craziness.

So many thoughts here. First, Jimbo‘s tirade on recruiting isn’t the Aggie way. That was the beginning of the end. So much hubris and childishness. He basically laughed at the Board of Regents in recent comments like our goal is to be bowl eligible. You are not paid $20M to be bowl eligible. And that comment after last night‘s win of well…we are three or four plays away from being in the national championship race was laughable and embarrassing to the school. You are daring them to fire you. A&M is a good old boy school. I would not be surprised if they offer Lane $200,000,000 guaranteed with an option on a well in the Permian basin. Mike Elko would be a solid hire or Norvell to maybe Dan at Oregon. That said, you don’t fire someone this time of the year unless you know who you are going after which means it is likely not Norvell or Dan as they are in playoff contention. Then again, this is the Aggies we are talking about. Will be a fun one to watch.

Since the University of Alabama hired Coach Nick Saban after the 2006 season, the other 13 Southeastern Conference football programs have had a total of 48 head football coaches grace their sidelines. Not including interim coaches.
Too much rationality on this thread...emotion ruled the day if JF is gone. He will not coach again...anything he makes diminishes what they owe him -- at least that is the way most coaching contracts are written. He will go to Florida and/or WV and enjoy his life as a wealthy man.
I wouldn’t see another living soul except on Sundays with the kind of buyout he’s getting.
