Losing to the two best teams we played all year doesn't seem as much bad luck as our incompetence. Also beating the number 1 ranked team coming off back-to-back national titles and still getting left out because of a week freaking 2 loss would seem way unluckier.
Every time I think about last year it drives me into a rage. The two coordinators should be brought up on charges. Couldn’t develop the receivers. Couldn’t figure out how to use Jamyr Gibbs effectively, and he’s playing well in the NFL this year. Had a generational QB. Defense too anxiety-ridden to stop anybody when it counted.

I don’t know if they had enough talent to beat Georgia, but they were the only team last year with the potential to do it.

Seriously? If Ohio State hits that field goal Georgia gets eliminated. Georgia got lucky. It happens.

If Alabama had ONE of its TWO 1,000+ yard receivers playing in the 2021(2?) Title game, we’re looking at another trophy in our case. We beat them in the SECCG that year, but lost Metchie in that game and J Williams in the first half of the National Title Game. 2,000+ yards of offensive production between both those young men and that changed the dynamic on the field. What could have been. None of our receivers could catch after those two apparently.

Some days you get the bear.
Some days the bear get you.

During the Egg Bowl last night there were some odds given that showed Ohio State with a 60% chance of making the playoff even if they lose. Given the current situation where we don't even know if Bama makes the playoff with an SEC championship how can a runner-up anywhere have a 60% chance?

Probably because their loss would be to a Top 2-3 team and because their fate isn’t tied to #7 ranked Texas.

But I really think the loser of tOSU/Mich is out if we beat UGA + chalk everywhere else.

The loser of that one only gets in with some chaos and if we beat UGA, They would be in a battle with them for #4

Yeah, “potential” was a poor word choice. I think OSU may have been hurt by some questionable calls, too.

I said “potential” because Alabama didn’t play to their potential last year. The team they fielded would probably not have beaten UGA, but with a little bit of competent coaching to go along with what they had, I believe they could have done what no one else was able to do. All speculation of course.
