BREAKING Alabama QB Jalen Milroe to return for senior season

Interesting timing. I figured he would wait until after the playoffs to make a decision on that. He's definitely made remarkable improvement, but he still needs to prove he can beat Texas. I hope no promises have been made about the starting job just yet. Let's see if we come away with a Championship first.

If Tua, Jalen Hurts, Mac, and Bryce were expected to compete and win the job, I don't see why anyone else would be expected to do any less. Saban seems to put a lot of emphasis on "winning the locker room" and if Milroe loses that, then he will have either self destructed, or someone else will have done a heck of a lot to prove himself.

Hopefully it's about more than just winning the locker room. If he doesn't win a Championship this year, then a lot of the concerns we've had about him will come rushing back. If Texas does the same thing to him that they did last time, then I'm not sure he deserves to be the starter. We are just gonna have to see what happens in the playoffs. If he wins it, then he obviously deserves to be the starter, but there's still work to be done

This is the assumption built into every position competition, but the QB position is special in that leadership is so important to the team. I don't think winning the locker room means being the most likable. These competitive guys want to win and have a decent sense of who gives them the best chance to win, and their motivation and support is critical to the team chemistry. I expect competition at every position, and that Simpson and everyone else continue to challenge him. Whether or not he is unseated, it will have been earned. I don't know even that a bad performance in the playoffs will by itself carry any long term meaning. 2024 is a new season.

It will depend on how he plays in a loss. If he throws three picks then ok, but if the ball is fumbled or a kick blocked or a return for a TD that swings the game then that’s not on him. If the defense plays bad and can’t stop anyone then that’s not on him. The reason the loss happens matters.

At least we'll have Downs and probably Amos back. Plus we've recruited DBs pretty well. Hopefully someone like Dezz Ricks will be ready
I’ve got my fingers crossed that Arnold may come back. I know that may nlot be likely but he’s a super personable guy and could do well with NIL. He would set himself up to be the first CB taken next draft and could pocket some good money along the way. Him Downs and Amos would be formidable. Does Keys have eligibility left?

I disagree with the premise that our fanbase's "concerns" about JM have any impact on who starts next season. We'd all like to see JM win a national championship this season. This fanbase needs to just enjoy the moment, be thankful that one of our best players is returning for his senor season, and support whomever CNS puts on the field next year.

Good move for Bama and Milroe. If JM locks down quick decision-making and a consistent short-to-medium route passing game (which have both improved a lot this season) to add to his long ball and wheels he'll be nearly unstoppable if OL play holds up.

With a 2024 schedule like Bama's , I'm glad he's returning.
