Bama Game Thread: Official Postgame Thread - Bama vs. Michigan...

No, he needs to learn to read defenses so Alabama can run a real offense instead of a HS offense.
I can’t emphasize what @B1GTide is saying here enough. If Milroe is going to take that next step to reach his potential, then 1) he has to get past this “I’m comfortable with the deep ball” mentality. Learn to use the entire field and the entire playbook. 2) he MUST become a true zone read QB. Every “read” call is predetermined for him.

And of course... the SEC's national championship streak ends, thanks to us. For the first time since 2018, another conference will win it

Not much to say. Just when we sort of got control of the game we fell apart. Overall a pretty good season with another SEC ring. I have no interest in what happens tonight or in the CFPCG so I‘m done with football until fall. See you then.

This might be my last season of watching college football. The direction of the game is not healthy.

Yeah I think that’s the truth among other things. He could lead us to a NC but it’s going to mean putting in the work and having the motivation to do so.

Maybe we will. Hopefully we will.
I don’t think it’s a matter of work, or motivation, I think Milroe has that in spades. The ability to see multiple things at once and react quickly to them isn’t something you can attain just by working at it. Elite QBs have something that elite video gamers have, that is rare. I remember seeing Drew Brees being tested, and having amazing vision and the ability to track a tremendous number of things at once. Milroe flat out does not possess this skill.

I need a break. I have not enjoyed this year. I have not enjoyed the direction of the game.
Its bleeding into basketball for me too.

the payoff isn’t worth the stress. College football has now become like so many other things, that it’s no longer enjoyable

Pretty sour at the moment.

I'm in the same boat, CC. I joined this place in 2011 and have really enjoyed the game threads and banter along with the game that's on the TV.

But I've found my enjoyment of college football waning the past couple of years. Opt outs, transfer portal, NIL money.....and just a rash of bad games. My heart isn't in it like it used to be.

Maybe I'll un-Grinch and my heart will grow three sizes by next fall....

Cajun, next year with 12 teams, the season will be 3 weeks longer. Should college football consider starting the season 2 or 3 weeks earlier? Obviously the dates are already set for next year but in the future?

This is exactly how I feel. I had way more fun during the crazy Covid season than this year. College football has changed too much, and it will no longer be the same. There will be multiple 3-loss teams in the playoffs from now on, and it’s just not right. This might be the beginning of the end for me.

Wouldn't Liberty have made a 12 team field this year? A team with no business playing against the big boys.

Just no. Who are we going to get better than CNS? Kitten? Dabo? Just no.

I don't think they have to be better; I think they just have to be better suited for the current climate of college football. Coach Saban is 72 and, while his 72 is probably better thank everyone on here, I think EVERYONE would agree that he doesn't have many more years left. We all know that he doesn't like where college football is going and I think that's affecting some of his decision making in terms of staff decisions (like keeping Golding for five years or BOB for two) and schematic decisions (was trying to return to joyless murderball the right move this year or not). We'll see how competitive we are in the new-look SEC next year, I suppose.

I feel like the game was blown when we were marching into their territory, ready to put them away, and McGlaughlin made the two poor snaps in a row that totally killed the drive and momentum. Just baffling this kid is 14 games into the season, a starting center on a collegiate level, and can't snap the football. I don't understand it at all. I don't know how it didn't cost us even more games.

The backup center probably has major self-esteem issues by now.....

My greatest concern - that Milroe thinks that he has arrived. He will be the starter next year. And if he doesn't work his rear off to improve in the off season, it will cost Alabama another season.

He will be listed as a Heisman favorite to start the season, and Alabama will be highly ranked. That spells disaster unless he and the team see just how poorly they played this year.

Maybe so, but how will you know if he learned anything until he sees live game action against a true opponent? Most scrimmages are scripted.

It’s not just that. It’s refusing to taking hits for 1st downs and misreading zone reads. He has a ways to go but there is legitimate hope.

After week 3, I didn't think we had a snowball chance of playing on Jan 1st. We took the current number one team to OT after beating the previous #1 team. We far exceeded most rational fans expectations this year. Our dynasty is not dead, we still are a top tier program. Practically every other program would gladly trade places with Alabama.
