Center in 2024

I won’t disagree that Seth was awful. But part of the qb‘s responsibility is being ready for the snap. Once he claps his eyes should not be to the sideline. There were a couple of snaps where Milroe could have caught it but was not paying one bit of attention.
Milroe doesnt know how to set up protection ... Bryce was great at that
Thats why Lonergam has higher celing .. dude is in command in pocket and confident

Some fan on Reddit just posted that he went back and coded the snaps from yesterday.

66 total offensive plays
32 were "off target"

He said the other plays where the snap was "ok to good" the result was generally positive with the ball getting back at least to the line of scrimmage.

It took us half the season to make the full time switch from Dalcourt to Robert's. It took 2/3 of the season to make the switch at punt returner.

Again, these guys are getting paid now and can leave anytime they are ready. Recruits nowadays are looking for $$ and playing time not necessarily development first and foremost. In exchange, the kids need to get a little taste of NFL roster management - perform or sit down.

We can't wait multiple games to give a backup a legit chance to compete or make a switch going forward.

Twitter talk of Seth going into the portal now. Fresh start and all that
If he leaves and fixes this elsewhere, I will totally lose respect for him. He was partially responsible for the loss. He played so poorly this year that the NFL is off the table. He owes it to his teammates to stick around and try to fix this. Use some of his NIL money to pay a coach and work with them every day until spring camp starts.

Some folks are built different. Good luck to him if he does indeed leave.

He had his chance, he can go try to fix this elsewhere, imo.

but who is the backup? first option was Dalcourt, who Seth beat out at the end of 21, and again midway through 22 b/c Dalcourt wasn't getting it done, as evidenced by getting beat out once again by Roberts at OG. Other option was Brokermeyer, who only weights 285(ish) and would likely get mauled. I guess they could pull a guard over and let him start trying to see what happens in practice - and maybe they did that for all we know.

Maybe we can disguise Kelce from the Eagles, bring him with Dickerson. Call them Kelce Jr and Dickerson Jr so as not to raise suspicion of any kind. We'd be set then. 😉

I can see why he’d wanna leave. Not saying it isn’t justified bc good gawd almighty dude but yeah im not sure I could get over the heat he’s taken this year either. If he couldn’t get it figured out the last two years I don’t see how he’s not gonna be a guard at his next stop. If he does somehow figure it out somewhere else I’ll be ready to move on from wofford

Terrance Ferguson was working at center last spring and during pre-season camp according to this and other websites. Also, Tommy Brockermeyer has been the back-up LG at TCU this season. Not sure about where James Brockermeyer is only 285 lbs. He looks bigger than that.

He donated his NIL earnings to the West Alabama Food Bank this past season.

Personally I’m ready now - yeah there was youth on the Oline but SM regressed and I didn’t see (and honestly maybe I missed it) progression of any consequence from the vets. Inconsistency was the key; if like I’ve read/heard, Latham got blown up on the last play, this was a projected first rounder this year choking with the game on the line.
Don’t think scouts weren’t watching. Performance at crunch time is important enough to move someone up or down in the draft. Nowadays it’s possible players don’t care because they got NIL money, so what if they drop to the second round?
I’ve sensed a lack of cohesion the last couple of years ( even further back, in spots) where they’re just not playing as a team. It all starts with…….

From the picture on Roll Tide, his arms don’t look the least bit beefy - I don’t know how old the pic is.
What I hear last year (some on here) was that DD was better at pass pro than Seth but Seth was better with blocking and communication. Don’t know if true or not, but his snapping skills regressed and it was chronic.
No idea of the cure but change is required somehow.

Rewatching the game, it seemed like something was up with Seth that had him visually frustrated, nervous, something. Even one time when he came off the field and CNS was talking to him his body language was just off. I realize it's so easy to say "in hindsight" but wish the staff could have gotten his head straight early in the game. You might say, "bad game" but this has gone on alot in 2023-like golfer and the yips.

something is fishy. SM leaving; the guy likely to get a very good look or be the top contender at the spot as a result leaving; SM's apparent frustration during the game that others mentioned and also even watching the end of the last play, SM just walked off past JM and Latham laying on the ground.

Couple that with a sideline reporter saying Saban told Milroe to take ownership of some of the bad snaps. I've never heard such a thing directed at a QB before. Then after one of the bad snaps, Saban was talking to SM coming off the field, and SM certainly looked frustrated, but just kinda shrugged, said something and it was almost like Saban understood and accepted the answer. next, Saban mentioned at the halftime interview some of the sacks happened because we were running out of playclock time and didn't have the OL calls made yet to adjust protection but had to snap the ball anyway. Finally when asked about the bad snaps, JM said it's something they talk about being in sync, but it was kinda odd he didn't mention they physically work on it.
