Kalen DeBoer hired to Replace Nick Saban - CONFIRMED by Greg Byrne

Wolford not working out is a head scratcher for me. How can you be successful at Kentucky as a O-line coach but struggle at Alabama??
I thought the same until I talked to a former colleague that lives in Lexington and is close with a lot of folks in the football program.

When they hired Wolford Kentucky folks thought pretty much the same as we did. He was a “steal” from USCe. They found out later South Carolina was about to let him go.

The common theme among players at UK was the guy wasn’t much a “teacher” or a “coach”. Mostly he screamed at people and made excuses. Most folks, in addition to the players, were happy to see him take the Alabama job.

Amazing? I don’t know about that. He had a pretty good defense to lean on.

He had to completely change our offense mid-season to account for that JM could, or more directly, what he could not do. From a stats standpoint, we were way, way down from our near term average, but there were SO many things that CTR tried to do early in the year that JM just couldn't do. These were things you'd expect your above average HS QB to be able to execute with some degree of success. At the bye-week, CTR installed everything NEW. That's hard. He made more out of less than folks give him credit for.

I think this is the best we could have hoped for.
And “the best” of the best we could hope for, IMO.
There is no one, not even CNS, who gets more out of his players, IMO. If he can keep Bama in the top ten in recruiting, Bama will be in it every year and will win a few. There’s also the portal which put Washington in the NC game.
I’m so dang excited now, my waning interest because of all the portal/NIL lack of restraints has plateaued and may have even ticked up a bit.
I watched KD a little at Fresno and I thought Washington made a solid hire. I had an inkling he would do well but nothing like this, this quickly.
Folks, the future of Bama football is in good hands. I hope he gets all the total, all encompassing support he can get from the school/admistration, REC/BoT/boosters, alumni, students and fans. Next 20 years should be at least as good, if not better, than the last 20; I think us oldies can feel a little better that the Tide will stay high for the rest of our days.

I just took a visit to the Washington message board. I understand they are upset but there are some seriously deranged people there.

Thank you TideFans for making this a classy place.
I made a comment earlier that their posts would make people on the Rant blush. Deranged is right.

Random thought. The last time we had to replace a head coach and defensive coordinator. It was technically the same person. Joe Kines. Right?

No doubt. That's why many Auburn fans aren't supporting him. Couldn't understand why Liberty, a Christian university, hired him. I'm about second chances, but I'm not convinced he deserves it yet. Talk with no action...
Could be that the University is a mirror of the millions who proudly proclaim that “faith” but willingly and chronically lives their lives in an oppositional manner.

Wow. Didn’t know that.
CNS ain’t perfect, he’s had a few swings and misses in his coaching hires. Many more hits, thank the Lord.
