Rodney orr and Josh Pate say all they heard was that he is staying. So there is that…. It’s literally a game of trying to figure out what a 19-20 year old will do. So who really knows….

I generally trust Orr's instincts in these things.

I said this a while back. Unless something changes in terms of “free agency” with the transfer portal, each year it will not matter about getting a class full of 20-25 “four and five stars”. What is going to matter most is finding those 10-12 guys each year that you can get on the field early, get them to invest in the program and stick around.
CNS would pitch “you’re not eligible for the NFL
Draft for three years. Why worry today about something three years away? . At Alabama we can prepare you for that day in three to four years.”
That no longer flies. As we have already seen, there will be those that want the instantaneous gratification that comes with Lambo’s and promised playing time and NIL dollars. As one recent transfer said it’s about “his company”. So much for the notion of playing the game for something bigger than yourself - the fans, the school or, above all, your teammates.
And I’m not talking about a kid that’s been there three years or more and buried on the three deep depth chart wanting a better chance to “get on the field”.
So much for “patience being a virtue”.

I will let it play out I guess. But if true, I just think it’s pathetic. So Nick Saban retired. Guess what, no one else out there is Nick Saban either, so where do you think you are going to go where the coaching is so much better? No where. It’s not like we hired some average dude. We have all the pieces to win the conference and play for the NC next year with the team we already have. Just as much if not more so than any other program in the SEC. But these kids are acting like it’s the end of the world and they have to flee a sinking ship in order to make it to the NFL. We’ve got all our rivals able to recruit our players whispering this nonsense in their ears. CFB seriously needs some actual rules around this crap, it is well beyond out of hand, it is pure anarchy. I really hope Kirby’s antics blow up in his face one day. And sooner rather than later.

I’m so sick of the rumors and conflicting reports. Everybody wants to be a reporter and be the first one to tell something. (Yet in another breath LOATHES THE MEDIA FOR MAKING STUFF UP!!!) They are basically slinging feces on the wall hoping it sticks.

Yeah it’s not like he is Amari Cooper or Waddle or Ridley or Jeudy or something. It’s more the principle of, you are one of the starting WRs on the team but you can’t even be bothered to play for a new head coach, for which you would also start and probably have a lot more touches. There needs to be some regulation. Players want to be compensated and that is only fair, but schools also invest a lot of money in the development of players.

Why aren't we doing the same thing, Why don't we have some boosters dropping off a Lambo in Caleb Down's driveway right now? Why aren't we waiving cash in the faces of our rivals top talent? If this is how the game is, where are our bagmen at? They staying inside cause it's cold out?

Well we were all concerned about Coach DeBoer’s ability to recruit. We all said his first job would be to re-recruit the team. Sad to say, but so far our very best players offensively and defensively are the ones hitting the portal, and rumored to be hitting the portal. It’s made worse that it’s mostly to Sark and Smart..
