This sucks and I'm not sure what else I'm supposed to think about it.
I know people don't want me talking about it, but DeBoer didn't even recruit Sayin (edit: the information I saw was incorrect, he did offer Sayin) even though he was in his own backyard.
This is a mess, and I'm going to go ahead and say it. I'm not really sure if DeBoer is smoke and mirrors or not.
He got Penix because Penix was at Indiana as the same time as him. Penix's coming out party, his 2020 game against Ohio State was after DeBoer was gone. DeBoer's success at Washington came with Penix playing amazing Heisman caliber football against west coast defenses. The question is which of the two deserves credit?
We will find out if DeBoer is legit in a hurry. He can't recruit, he just can't, he can't keep Alabama's talent, he has no connections to blue chip guys, he couldn't even try to recruit Sayin out of high school for some reason.
I've been told he can win with 3 stars. Well soon we'll find out, but I'm honestly irritated that DeBoer had every chance to develop a relationship with Sayin (who is from the west coast) and for some reason blue chips just never have been his thing. Washington State offers Sayin but DeBoer doesn't bother?
It is what it is, but what it is right now doesn't look good and I've tried to see the bright side but what I'm seeing now is the result of a guy that hasn't developed good relationships with blue chips.
