again th timeline suggests otherwise. He could have hit the portal anytime this week but chose the day after another QB from the freaking school the new coach came from signs on.
We don't know what Sayin told CKD in their meetings or the "vibe" CKD got from Sayin. We simply do not know but CKD KNOWS who Sayin is and where he ranked in the recruiting rankings so I have a hard time believing he had a great vibe from Sayin THEN decided to bring in the UW QB and have zero clue of the optics and the potential fall out that could bring. My guess is he was told or had a strong vibe Sayin was rolling out.

I think by default we`d have to try to go the DESTROY route because we don`t have the money to do the first.
And ... I think giving money to NIL collectives is like giving money to a drug addict hoping they'll check themselves into a rehab clinic before it's too late.

Would you have preferred AM announce he's transferring AFTER Sayin announced he is???

I don't really care how it went down. But there's an argument to be made AM is currently more valuable to Bama than Saying in terms of his knowledge of the system.

Fast forward a few years…when two teams play on tv the commentators will keep up with what each player is making and will compare the performance relative to the amount paid.
“He’s playing like a million dollar guy but he only is clearing 1/4 mil. What a good value.“

Take a breath guys. I know it’s never a good thing to lose a 5 star QB, but the truth is he wasn’t going to see the field this year and maybe not even the year after. There will be more, we can’t keep freaking out every time somebody leaves. When the dust settles, there will still be some great players and coaches here and most importantly, we’ll know they truly want to be here.

I knew this was happening when i saw the addition of Mack. Told my wife. Sayin left because Saban left, he had the courtesy to let Saban and DeBoer know before announcing it, and the did the only thing that they could do - add another QB.

Don't let it get you down. Ty is a great QB, and Lonergan shows promise. No idea about Mack.

Sayin is now the enemy.

"He's still on his freshman/Sophomore contract, they better win now because his Junior contract is going to severely limit money to put good players around him".

Does that sound familiar? Lol

I was in meetings all day yesterday so I don’t know if this little tidbit was shared. SIAP

Heading towards non restricted transfers it appears.

What do people want this sport to be? Even the NFL has more restriction on player movement now.

Why do "we" want players to run the ship in college? They don't have this much control in HS or the NFL.

There has got to be some middle ground where the schools can hold onto players but, the players still have options.

This sucks and I'm not sure what else I'm supposed to think about it.

I know people don't want me talking about it, but DeBoer didn't even recruit Sayin (edit: the information I saw was incorrect, he did offer Sayin) even though he was in his own backyard.

This is a mess, and I'm going to go ahead and say it. I'm not really sure if DeBoer is smoke and mirrors or not.

He got Penix because Penix was at Indiana as the same time as him. Penix's coming out party, his 2020 game against Ohio State was after DeBoer was gone. DeBoer's success at Washington came with Penix playing amazing Heisman caliber football against west coast defenses. The question is which of the two deserves credit?

We will find out if DeBoer is legit in a hurry. He can't recruit, he just can't, he can't keep Alabama's talent, he has no connections to blue chip guys, he couldn't even try to recruit Sayin out of high school for some reason.

I've been told he can win with 3 stars. Well soon we'll find out, but I'm honestly irritated that DeBoer had every chance to develop a relationship with Sayin (who is from the west coast) and for some reason blue chips just never have been his thing. Washington State offers Sayin but DeBoer doesn't bother?

It is what it is, but what it is right now doesn't look good and I've tried to see the bright side but what I'm seeing now is the result of a guy that hasn't developed good relationships with blue chips.

This is all to hard to watch, but it’s also to be expected. I’m not sure why so many are surprised that a lot of these players were here for Saban instead of the University. That’s how it usually works. We as fans and alumni love the school and place that above all else, but the truth has always been that most of these guys came from all over the country to play for the GOAT, not necessarily Alabama. If it was just Alabama, we would have had #1 and #2 classes under Shula.
That is the disadvantage that DeBoer has right now. Despite his success, he doesn’t have the name recognition to draw in a lot of elite guys. He can change that with winning of course, but it’s going to take a little time. Hopefully we can retain and bring in enough elite players so he can win sooner than later.

Talk is he told them during his one on one he would be looking elsewhere. He might’ve given himself time to think it over, and he might’ve held off just to give the eeyores a break from trying to tie their shoelaces together to strangle themselves.

The only comfort we can take as Alabama fans is that this issue will be fixed after it’s allowed to erode this foundation Saban built. No other program will have to go through this one sided nonsense.

This is a first step in trying to destroy college sports from people who were probably beaten up on the playground as kids for their inability to kick a kickball.

NOBODY on this board has been more excited about Julian Sayin than me.

But I'm only slightly surprised.

Y'all repeat it with me. "It's going to be OK."
It’s really not ok. The depth and talent on the roster is depleted for next year and in years to come. It doesn’t mean it can’t be rebuilt but serious damage is being done that will be seen on the field next year and in the next few years. This coaching staff better be the best ever assembled. When the portal opens after spring if they don’t make a splash then you may want to buckle up because it might be a bumpy ride. Lack of depth gets you killed in the SEC.

Say it louder for those in the back, right after you send the usher to remove their ear plugs!

Anyone not seeing the potential for this exodus doesn't understand CFB in the current landscape.

Really? LOL! The guy has yet to coach one practice, much less one game and you're at this point and claim you've been "patient"? LOL!

IF Sayin left because Deboer and Grubb told him they were bringing a former recruit then he's not the QB we need. Full stop!

And you know I believe JS is uber talented, but I just don't buy that he suddenly got his little feelings hurt and decided today he'd enter the portal.

These guys have an entourage of advisers and if he's declaring today it's because they've already been talking about it.

I can't believe anybody is surprised a Cali kid might change his mind after CNS retired. Seems like I read an article that articulated he committed to Bama mainly because of CNS and his ability to get QBs to the league.
