Realistically installing a new offense and defense I’ll be happy with 3 or less losses or 3 wins if they are against UGA, LSU, and Auburn 😁

I think DeBoer has the coaching ability and underlying talent to keep us in contention for the SECCG, playoffs, and NCG. Do I think those are realistic expectations? Probably not.

There will always be a learning curve for any coach who’s a first timer in the SEC. And while our top-end talent will be as good as anyone in the country, there will be positions we will be extremely thin at. You can’t lose 30ish transfers and a bunch of guys in the draft and not see a fall-off in depth.

Moreover we have a brutal schedule. @Wisconsin won’t be cake. Georgia in a revenge game won’t be a fun welcome to the SEC. UT, Oklahoma, and LSU on the road. Mizzou coming off a top 10 season and an improving Auburn team. We won’t lose all those games, but any of them could be losable.

What I expect right now is that we won’t fall off hard, but will have a bit of an adjustment year. 11+ wins would be incredible. 9-10 wins is what I’d expect. 8 wins is possible but would be disappointing. 7 or less is very unlikely.

If Grubb stays 10+ wins, SEC West champs.

If Grubb leaves, 9 wins, SEC SEC West tiebreaker.

Expectations…. We will be a better team than what we were last year.

Deboer is known as a fast starter and relentless coach. I think his introduction to the SEC is probably more close to a rejuvenating experience for the Alabama program than an expected step down.

Conservatively best case is 11-2 with a playoff run. Worst 9-3 bubble team.

I would not be shocked if we were deep in the playoffs however.

I agree with BamaMoon's post. I see two losses right now, UGA and LSU. Oklahoma on the road and Mizzou at home could go either way. 9-3 worst case record.
LSU and Georgia are facing roster problems too. Georgia also has a historic problem at beating us.

Oklahoma I’m not so sure about. They were very mediocre most of last year and lost most of the talent that they acquired.

Alabama's staff is better than Mizz and the talent is much better. Alabama will likely be a TD+ favorite.
Until Ryan Williams signed with us Mizzou’s offense was light years ahead of us in overall returning talent. Burden is the best returning wide receiver in the SEC and Cook is a very very good quarterback. Pretty much that whole offense returns outside of the running back. So if our defense isn’t up to par in year 1 then it could be a shootout in which our only real advantage is that the game is at BDS.
