As others have stated, having possibly the most difficult schedule in the country makes it tough. It's a transition year on both sides of the ball. New coaching staff all of which are not very experienced in the SEC. I do believe we have the pieces in place so I think next year will be somewhat like last year with us starting out not looking that great. The key in my opinion is to A: get better every week and B: hopefully win enough to get us into the playoffs.

Once the playoffs start it's a new season so who knows how far we can go.

I agree with BamaMoon's post. I see two losses right now, UGA and LSU. Oklahoma on the road and Mizzou at home could go either way. 9-3 worst case record.
LSU did not have a good defense the either of past 2 years. If our defense can slow them down, this offensive staff should be able to figure out how to outscore them.

I think DeBoer has the coaching ability and underlying talent to keep us in contention for the SECCG, playoffs, and NCG. Do I think those are realistic expectations? Probably not. There will always be a learning curve for any coach who’s a first timer in the SEC.

@Wisconsin won’t be cake. Georgia in a revenge game won’t be a fun welcome to the SEC. UT, Oklahoma, and LSU on the road. Mizzou coming off a top 10 season and an improving Auburn team. We won’t lose all those games, but any of them could be losable.
Please do not even mention the possibility of losing to the barn. That should not happen.

I’m shocked at how low some of these expectations are. This roster is loaded with talent. The offense is going to be electric. This coaching staff top to bottom is much improved. Both the coaches and players have a gigantic chip on their shoulder. This squad will be as tight knit as any team we’ve had. As a fan, I have an appreciation for the players and coaches that stayed as well as the ones who chose to come here and take on this challenge. I think a lot of us feel the same way and expect BDS to be louder than ever next year. This is a National Championship team!

I think people are factoring in a "transitioning " element that is very common in "new" anything. Seeing how many moving parts are in football that have to work together to succeed, you almost have to factor in a loss or two due to that dynamic. It doesn't mean it's guaranteed to happen, but is likely.

I hope we make the playoffs. We have talent. I just wonder how DeBoer will handle\adjust to a full SEC schedule.

10-2 or 9-3 performance in Knoxville and Baton Rouge and Tuscaloosa against UGA will be the difference between 10-2 or 9-3 we need to win one of those three and run the table elsewhere to reach 10-2 … lose all three and we are teetering between 9-3 and 8-4. If we are 10-2 or 9-3 we make the playoffs and anything can happen from there.

Expectations…. We will be a better team than what we were last year.

Deboer is known as a fast starter and relentless coach. I think his introduction to the SEC is probably more close to a rejuvenating experience for the Alabama program than an expected step down.

Conservatively best case is 11-2 with a playoff run. Worst 9-3 bubble team.

I would not be shocked if we were deep in the playoffs however.
I heard that he has completely overhauled the training table/nutrition. We should see a leaner team in the fall.

I hope for 10-2 or 9-3 in a transition year. My expectations moving forward, make the playoff every year, with the SEC maybe getting 4-5 in that is possible. Win the SEC and Naty every once in a while. What Saban has done will not be duplicated. Don’t become the Buffalo Bills of the college playoff…..make the playoffs and then get your guts ripped out in bad losses or lose to teams you shouldn’t.

One of the most encouraging things about CKD is the teams Washington defeated this past year to get to the finals. And then he had to play with his number 1 running back injured.

Copout answer but it depends on how quickly the players can adjust to CKD's and CKW's new schemes and how the completely revamped DB's will perform. Thankfully the first 2 games will serve as a shakedown cruise before they go to Madison. The schedule is brutal though they'll be favored for probably all but the UGA game, so 12-0 at best, 9-3 at worst. I do think they make the playoffs and make a good run there.
