My biggest concern is that it seems CKD anointed JM as the starter before he even saw him practice. He needs to understand that it's not his job to make the prior coach, or me, or certain players happy. Just naming a guy as the starter, in a new offense, that you've never seen play, and that has a number of critical weaknesses on film, seems like setting yourself up for failure. Especially if you haven't even seen the other QBs. Head scratching situation. Maybe I'm over-thinking this too much and he's just skillfully finessing this situation...hope so. If JM improves and turns out to be the best QB then so be it...wouldn't be the first time I was wrong

I keep hearing that TS was clearly the best QB in the last two scrimmages so I'm really concerned about what's going on. TS seemed a bit frail last year...anybody know if he's bulked up and gotten any more solid?

All that said, I wouldn't want to end up playing against JM or TS if they ended up at some place like Auburn or Ole Miss.

I'm not comfortable with some of the takes you shared here. The head coach, the coaching staff see the players everyday in the meeting room, practices, watch films, etc. I don't understand why you think naming a guy who's a starter, which CKD didn't NAME... He pretty much said Milroe is doing great job and it's his job to lose. Nobody has won the competition yet. This will continue after Saturday into summer and into fall camp. Simpson and Mack has spilt with 1's as well and has done great job. But There are lot of information on Simpson and last scrimmage that was taken out of context.

To be a qb, you have to win the locker room. Milroe did that. To be qb, you have to be a leader on and off the field. Milroe did that. You have to do great job of continuing to get better. Milroe is doing that. This isn't a knock at other qbs, they are competing as they should and it can only make everyone better.

On TS: I don't understand this. Everyone keep focusing on TS, but All QBs did well in both of scrimmage. That's important to remember that. TS got better once he got out of his head mentally. He was just like Mac Jones, getting upset quickly on the field. Control his emotions and he was fine. Saban spoke on that last year.

Bottom line, there is nothing to worry about. Just enjoy the spring practices and scrimmages.. let it unfold as it should, but Milroe is definitely much better than he was last year.. He's not getting enough credits from the fans.

I think it's more like BamaBuzzard said; We just don't want a repeat of the level of QB play we saw in 2023 which was incredibly frustrating. If JM makes huge strides and fixes those issues from '23, that's totally fine with most of us. If he can't/doesn't, we are hoping someone else will be able to step up and be able to run the offense (hopefully a holistic one) such that all the playmakers we have at WR, TE and RB are able to use the skills they were recruited for. There's simply to big of a risk of high level playmakers transferring out if they don't get the opportunity to show their skills due to lack of execution of a holistic passing offense.
This isn't Saban offense anymore. CKD offense features WR/TE/RB in passing game more. Beside, there's always a risk of players transferring, no matter if they're impact players or not.

No doubt the money made it a no brainer to leave. However, his frustration with Milroe was evident and imo, played the biggest role in him leaving.

Bond? I thought Bond was always leaving... had nothing to do with QB. he just wanted the NIL Money and I heard he didn't make a positive impact in the film room/practices.

I have issues with Bond and his remarks after committing to Texas.

$322,000 NIL-valued Isaiah Bond's Texas commitment as part of 'business decision' riles up CFB fans: "Saban retiring has been worse for Bama" (sportskeeda.com)

1. It's just business... NIL Deal.
2. He did this to improve draft stock.. even through it didn't matter whether he was at Texas or Alabama. He made this comment.

IMO, He's just being a *****. He wasn't a great teammate, and always looked out for him selves. It's a waste of breath to mention him at this point.
Or he’s saying what you don’t want to hear, and that is Milroe isn’t the quarterback to get him touches to get him to the next level.

I’ll be fair in this edit. Bond doesn’t think there’s an Alabama quarterback who can get him the touches he needs based on the starting quarterback play last year.

The QB status won't be clear until the end of fall practice leading into the first game. We're implementing a new offense - new schemes, new terminology, new expectations, etc. It won't be in place with QB1 established after Saturday's A-Day game.

I think CKD will be settled on a QB when the season begins. But even that may change once we get further into the season. We won't learn much against WKU and USF. I think all QBs who play in those games will look good. The games against Wisconsin and UGA may shake things up a bit.

However, I'm confident CKD will figure it all out and play the guy he believes can run his full offense and gives us the best chance to win. This is his team now and he has no obligation to CNS or anyone else in regard to who he sends onto the field to play for our beloved Crimson Tide.

He did it to improve his stock.....which he can't do having Milroe throwing to him or the lack of throws that is. Ewers on the other hand or whomstever they have back there throwing....will get Bond the ball.

Say what you will about Bond but he wanted to be a froghorn his whole life. Saban is the one that convinced him to come to Tuscaloosa. But after Coach retired and utex started throwing money around then it was a no brainer for him. Loved him when we had him but good riddance.

This is it! People doesn't want to hear the truth. They just want to hear what they wanna hear and blame Milroe for no reason.

Truth? you mean like this direct quote from the article you posted:

"Just like business world, you make the best decision for your company. My company right now is my draft stock. I feel like I'm putting myself in position to increase that and have better draft stock", Bond told ESPN

In other words, he thought the situation at UTx would improve his draft stock more than the situation at UA AND he specifically called out the TX QB as a factor.

"I like the whole package that comes with it. Great quarterback, they have a great offensive line. I feel like it was a great spot for me to come to."

"One-hundred percent. He's a great big-time pocket passer quarterback. He's a top pick in the draft next year. I'm also going to be a top pick. It's going to be a good duo."

The way I read that, it certainly sounds like he has way, way more faith in a QB like Ewers allowing him to showcase his skills than he had in JM. Can't blame him for that, as based on prior performance, I'd say the same thing.

As for rumors you've heard of Bond not being a great teammate or making a positive impact in the film room; I'm sure there were some tense moments. If I wanted to be drafted with a reasonable status, and I was watching all-22 film that consistently showed that I was open, on-time, per the play design and the ball was consistently not getting delivered as the play design called for, I would probably be asking some pretty pointed questions about why not. Add to that, the OC has to change the offense in a way that further limits my (and every other skill players) opportunities at the mid-season mark, and I'd be asking questions about if there might not be a better way.

Some might view that as "Me first" or whatever, but if a guy is doing exactly what he's been told he has to do, and someone else isn't, it's not really the guy who is doing his job the right ways fault for calling that out...

wait, what?!?!? The "saban offense" produced one of the few WRs to EVER win the Heisman and more first round WRs than just about any other program in the last 10 years other than maybe OSU. Think about Cooper, Ridley, Ruggs, Smitty, Juedy, Waddle, Metchie and JAMO (not all first rounders) ALL thrived in an offense that was designed to get the ball to them. The 2019 and 2020 passing offensives were some of the most WR friendly schemes EVER to see the field. 21 and 22 were pretty close, but just didn't have quite the same level of WRs. The difference was that Sims, Coker, Tua, Jones and Young were effective ball distributers who got the ball out to the WRs as designed, where Milroe just didn't. Milroe legit had the worst total offensive production of ANY of our modern (post-Kiffin) era Qbs.

When and how exactly did he anoint anyone the starter?

I think you just took it wide left. That's not what i said. Saban offense is pro style... CKD is Air Raid.....

That was the point. *Shrug*

Sir.. Nevermind. You pretty much proved my point. Oh well. Have a great day!

I hope Bond works out as well for Texas as Jahleel Billingsley and Agiye Hall did.
