I don't know CKD allowed taking the foot off the gas. I do know Georgia made really good halftime adjustments, and we apparently didn't. Georgia won the halftime chess match. And they played ball control, not giving us many chances to do much. But we still found a way to win.

I can understand that. Either way something was off. But as you said we found a way.

Morning after thoughts:

Since I've been justifiably critical of JM's play at times, I've got to give him credit. He finally showed what I've doubted he could do. Hitting those short to intermediate shots in the first half made the offense hum like I've never seen it with him at QB. He combined that with the big shots and used his legs to compliment his arm.

If we can gameplan/scheme with his talents and if he can play like this the sky is the limit.

Biggest lesson to learn for JM and the staff: Learn how to play with a lead because we'll likely be in this position a lot going forward!

For real though UGA has to just HATE us at this point.

We've beat them 9 out of 10 including....

2008 - Blackout Funeral
2012 - DAGGER from AJ to Coop - Kept them from winning a NC vs ND
2017/18 - 2nd and 26 - Took another NC away
2018/19 - Jalen off the Bench and Killed their hopes AGAIN
2023 - Ruined a 3-peat
2024 - Let them get tantalizingly close to getting revenge and snatched it away again.

Therapists in Georgia have to be earning crazy money listening to them vent.

If UGA wasn’t PERFECT on 4th down this game would have been completely different.

This is what no one seems to be considering. Yes, they were perfect on 4th down going 5 for 5. And yes if we stop them on just 1 of those it likely makes the game meh toward the end.

But, Georgia had a tremendous advantage knowing that in the 2nd half they were going to have 4 downs on every possession. They basically played half the game 4 downs to our 3 and that was the biggest difference. I knew as soon as they went for it on 4th down at their own 30 or so in the 3rd quarter the second half was going to be a long one!

That's tough on a defense and yet, we finally made a stand!

If we had been assured of a 7 point win prior to kick, I think we'd all have been thrilled. As it stands, I still feel great. We dominated a half, lose scoring opportunities to a fluky interception and a missed PI, and then Georgia dominates the second half. The stadium was as loud, or louder, than ever. As noted above, UGA was helped by playing with 4 downs for a half.

If I'm nitpicking, the playcalling got conservative and relied on Jalen running too much in the second half. And that postgame traffic was about the worst ever.

I can’t find the play but at one point, I saw Proctor holding off 2 defenders by himself. I wish I could find it because it was amazing.

He was snapping the ball with 20 seconds left and sometimes more.

No excuse for this, I don’t care what type of offense we run. This is pure coaching and not very smart IMO. Once or twice then maybe it was a mistake by Milroe but it was almost every single down.

Or just flipped to the short passing game. They were not going after Milroe. He would have picked them apart. But DeBoer wanted to run clock, so he ran into the teeth of a great defense.

One way to run clock is to not snap the ball with 18-20 seconds on the play clock.

That 6 minute drive by UGA in the 3rd was a double edge sword. 1. It took their time off the clock, 2. It gassed us on defense. I don't know if you've ever done it, but that's equivalent to running uphill for 6 minutes when you are against a tempo offense.
