BREAKING trump wins, why?

Me: "Cane's Chicken is fast food for white people."

My kids: "That's RACIST!"

Their chicken is totally devoid of spice. Oh, but I'm told, "You HAVE to get the SAUCE."....which I sampled, and learned it was nothing but mayo and ketchup mixed up.

I'm a Southern boy. Raised on gumbo, red beans and rice, chili made the right way (with masa flour) and Popeye's spicy wings. Living here in the MIdwest, there is a huge meme forum on Facebook devoted to making fun of how Iowegians love bland food.

Cane's is as bland as any food I've ever sampled. When I do a drive-thru with the kids, I always ask, "Can I get this extra spicy?" LOL

Popeye's spicy chicken is one of the few exceptions to the fast food ban in my household.

I love Popeye's spicy chicken. You'd probably enjoy Huey Magoo's more than Cane's. Not saying you'd love it but their breading has more seasonings, including black pepper and you can definitely tell. It ain't "spicy" but it isn't bland either, just a tiny hint of heat. I love the seasoning they put on their fries, it has a tiny bit of heat as well. Not many locations though, mostly in FL and GA, only 2 in AL both in Montgomery/Prattville.

Sarcasm received, but yep - he got rid of 90% of the workforce and it still runs just fine.

I'd be thrilled with similar results within the federal government.
Have you seen Massie's clip on twitter where talks about hardwiring a 1% reduction in budget items if certain items aren't voted on before budget deadlines? I may be describing the details poorly. Massie is really interesting to me. Here's one from today:

Really good episode discussing the outcome. In a nutshell, Schmidt says that if the lesson Democrats take from this is that they need to go more to the left, even more progressive next time, then we'll have President Vance.

Many other good points in the episode. Only 35 minutes long.

Absolutely... I keep seeing "we need to move to the left" stories... Uhh, sure, if you want to be completely irrelevant.

One of the things I find interesting about the election-time is how different people view what is important to them and, therefore, how that influences their voting choices. With my wife being a Vietnamese immigrant, I've had the opportunity to engage with hundreds of people who now live throughout the country. Now, not every Vietnamese-American votes the same, of course, but there are some very similar experiences and concerns.

1. People my wife's age suffered under communist rule, which caused them to flee their homeland as soon as they could. They had many family members and friends killed in the process. They don't trust government, for good reason. They want to be left alone to build their own lives. The next generation (American born) have adopted this independent mindset. Democrats are more the party of big government, which is far more intrusive than they'd prefer.

2. Whether Buddhist or Catholic, Vietnamese are from a traditional culture that is socially conservative. They generally don't care what you do but resent having leftist social issues forced upon them. Again, they want to be left alone. Democrats push a far-left social agenda and are often contemptuous or even hostile to one's cultural and religious beliefs.

3. At the local political level, Democrats tend to be hostile to educational merit and school choice. Asians overwhelmingly have education at the top of their list of what is important. It is the way to come to a new country and become successful. It is the path to achieve the American Dream. And all these people I talk to - my wife's friends and friends of friends and their families - are incredibly successful. There's no trick to it. Work hard. Study hard. Get rewarded on merit. Rewarding someone based on race or gender is offensive to those who believe in merit. It's bad enough to allow less qualified people to jump the line. The infuriating result is that some fully qualified people are passed over entirely. It's one of the many reasons why government sucks. It's also stupid-funny that government doesn't consider Asians to be minorities for DEI purposes because they are too successful.

4. As a result of being successful and prosperous citizens, Vietnamese-Americans make very good incomes. As follows, they are taxed at higher and higher levels and forced to subsidize people who don't work as hard. This is communist-light wealth redistribution, and it is not looked upon favorably at all. Democrats maintain that paying more and more is "paying your fair share."

Now, this appears to be the general default for my wife's community. It doesn't mean they are Republicans or that they voted for Trump. But I do know that they don't like a large part of the Democrat platform. In my conversations, I couldn't find any of the hundreds that said they would vote for Kamala.

Just grist for the mill.

Thanks for the perspective! I've many friends who were from or whose families were from neck of woods and they are hard working people indeed. We could learn a lesson or two!

If you're ever in parts of Louisiana see if you can find a "Southern Classics Chicken". It was founded in Louisiana, they only have a few locations across Louisiana but it will make you forget Popeye's chicken and I love Popeyes. But it doesn't hold a candle to Southern Classics.

I will never forget going to a cookout, and someone had a whole basket of chicken tenders. I took a bite, and I was like, "What? Where is the seasoning?"

The Cane's here - a line wraps around a couple times every time I drive by there. I always shake my head. You people with such limited palates.

If you have Facebook, check out this comedy meme page. It's all about the locals here and their affectation for bland food.

If Trump really brings Elon on to cut the waste (and actually follows his teams' advice), government waste will shrink dramatically.

It will be interesting to see indeed... I've read extensively on this as I think the Federal deficits and debt are essentially our #1 priority in the long term to survive as a nation. It is not so easy to cut expenses. Not at all.

You get bonus points for your usage of the phrase "you people."

I have never even heard of Cane's Chicken.

Revenue down 80+% but still "running just fine?" Can't wait to bring that type of "running" to our government.
Sure, as long as it continues to provide the services it needs to. I could care less how profitable X is, it runs great without needing all the excess waste hanging around. User base is largely unchanged (up or down by ~15% depending on who you ask) and it runs as well as it ever did.

GIve me a federal government that works that efficiently and I'll be thrilled.

Reminds me of a criticism of British food: "You guys colonized half the world to get all the best spices. And then did nothing with it. Beans on toast? Really?"

That seems to be the case. And declaring that agency, responsibility, and accountability (and consequences) hurts feelings.

Two things can be true at the same time. Some don't seem to agree, but it's true.

I guess I’m still learning new things because I had no idea that people voted out of Spite.

People actually purposely voted for the wrong candidate because the other side hurt their feelings.

Maybe the voting age cutoff is waaaay to low if that’s what we’re doing.
