Do we benefit if Tennessee makes the championship game?

The Problem with Tennessee winning , I think we beat Texas…or Aggie. Yes, we assume it would be Texas, but I’m not sold on the Longhorns as the best in Conference. The Ole Miss team that played South Carolina and Georgia might be the best team in the SEC, if not , the Bama team that played Mizzou or LSU or Wisconsin or the 1st half of Georgia. So I guess we should play out the season and whatever happens, Happens. Roll Tide!

The committee is showing their hand a bit, playing it like last year... which is so say SoS and metrics mean very little to them, as they still have Miami ahead of Alabama.

Point of reference, Sagarin has Alabama #3 with an SoS of 4, while Miami is 11 with an SoS of 54. ESPN's FPI likes Alabama even more, at #1 with Miami 11th. I'm making this point to say that if Alabama beats Oklahoma and then Auburn, but loses in the SECCG, think the committee is going to sit around and go look Alabama has played the toughest schedule in the nation, the stats tell us they're a top 5 team, they're in?

Nope... not happening. The committee is still rewarding soft schedules even though SoS is supposed to count it only counts sometimes. So, I want Tennessee to win and then I want them matched up with a Texas team so Alabama can coast into the playoff instead of playing another tough must win test.

Remember, Georgia missed out on the playoffs due to a SECCG despite clearly being better than at least 2 other teams in the playoff, they won't be able to excuse leaving out a two loss Alabama team, they will absolutely leave out a three loss Alabama team.
this stupid committee still has miami ranked ahead of smu and 3 teams in the same conference ranked in the top 4. They're aren't even following their own rules.

This in a nutshell. The only thing this team and probably we as fans should be concerned with is “winning out” and let the chips fall where they may. If we don’t get in the CFP (unlikely if we win out) or get crappy seeding, then that is on the team for losing to Vandy.

Yes, I know - we want Tennessee to lose every game! :) But if we win out and make the championship game and then lose, would that not put us out of the playoffs? Who do we want to win the Georgia-Tennessee game?

Obviously this is not a matter of what we choose, as we simply must win the rest of our games. What scenario in our best interest? Would it be better simply to avoid the extra game in regular season and have more time to prepare of the playoff?

If we make the championship game and win, then we likely will have a bye. Your thoughts?
Not making the SECCG and being ranked in the top 12 would be considered a first round bye...

No one knows this to be true.

In fact, the CFP has stated that conference runner-ups won't be 'unduly penalized' for losing the conference championship game.

Not only that, but since the CFP started (10 years), 13 different 3-loss teams were ranked in the final top10 of the CFP poll.

Agree, Bama gets in SEC CG, unless we lose by 52, we are in win, lose, or draw. Off topic but Heather Dinich knows as much football as my Doberman Pinscher.

So, I would be rooting for not making the SEC championship game. The only positive is that first round bye. But, if we're in the SEC championship game, we're playing that extra game instead of resting before the playoffs. Also, if we play someone like Texas and win, then would we have a disadvantage if we played them a second time in the playoffs?

I work closely with the ASPCA. Any comparison of Heather Dinich to your Doberman is considered offensive to all dog breeds everywhere. You’re on the list now, buddy….watch it!

Playoff selection broadcasting isn't really about football knowledge, so that's not really much of a criticism.

It’s weird though. Now they are saying Niko is “fine” and no concussion issues. Others are speculating that the “upper body injury” may not have been a concussion but a shoulder injury.
Heupel will probably list him as either "probable" or "questionable" in today's update just to keep bowl-cut guessing...

I refer to her as “Heather Dim-…..”. You can fill in the rest. Love how the college football talking heads prop her up as so “knowledgeable”. I would like researchers to put her and Trevor Mattich in the same room to see who could “out dumb the other”. The combined IQ in that room would be lucky to exceed room temperature.

As long as Skip Bayless and Tim Brando aren't involved, I'm ok.

Tbf, she discusses a lot more in terms of football than just who should and shouldn't be in the playoffs.
I think I've seen her one time this season and it was just a clip and I think she was just talking about some teams who could likely get bounced with a loss, like Alabama-LSU. I watched more of her last season, and almost everything I remember was about selection criteria, and very little football. She used to annoy me a lot, because I never wanted playoffs in the first place, and in general I care a lot more about my team winning than about what teams are ranked above what other teams, but over time, I came to respect the job she did more, and it was not anything to do with football itself. She gets to talk to committee people and conveys their thought processes in a way that is accessible to her audience, and that's her value.

She really doesn't bother me. Joking mostly. I think she is good in front of the camera and has enough knowledge to make herself sound legitimate. Much like the CBB Tourney "expert" Joe Lunardi, ESPN likes to find nerdy'esque people who can sling data points, statistics, and rankings from multiple places into an equation to make things interesting. She can come off as a little arrogant with her opinions and I think that is where many are turned off by her.
