8-4 is probably still too good for those 3. The Gator Bowl would seem more likely if that happened. Or maybe the Las Vegas Bowl, which has an SEC tie in this year. Or Texas Bowl

It'll be different this year, because the portal opens and closes before the end of bowl season. So even if we make the CFP, you're gonna have people entering the portal, and then what happens? I suspect we will see some opt outs on playoff teams as a result, or maybe they're told to move on immediately. And even if they don't opt out, they aren't going to be fully invested because they'll be busy trying to find a new home

In the playoff era, why even have bowl games? So a team can get embarrassed like Florida St last year. If we go to the Citrus bowl and half the team opts out, is it really Alabama playing? I can’t believe where we are in this sport, I’m desperately trying still to love it. I want to love it. But, I’m not even watching all Alabama games live anymore. maybe I’m the problem.

Maybe I truly am the problem, the two games I didn’t watch, Tennessee and OU , we lost.

I like bowl games. They're one of the things that make college football unique.There are still programs who are thrilled to bits to make bowl games. It's just that as Alabama fans, we have become conditioned to be championship or bust in our thinking. I have a friend who is an Arkansas fan, and he is over the moon about being in a bowl game. We don't wanna take that away from those schools. The bowl game is their playoff. And it's supposed to be a fun thing for the players, as a sort of payoff for all the hard work they put in all year long. Yes, they play a game, but it's a team vacation. And I think the players who don't opt out, do enjoy it. It's a shame that so many players only care about money these days

We would just have to look at it as a glimpse into the future. Yes, players may opt out, but we may also find out a little bit about what we have at certain positions, maybe even QB if Milroe decides to opt out for whatever reason.

I like bowl games too, have always argued for them. but moving forward I don’t think we recognize what we see. The early transfer portal opens before most bowl games, if 25-30 kids hit the portal and the upperclass stars opt out for the draft , what is there? Some would argue the extra practice, but how do you know if those players will even be there next fall? I think the time is running out for bowl games , especially if they expand the playoffs further.

Here's a thought: IF we did sneak into the playoff and had to go to Happy Valley for a first-round playoff game, would that be our Bowl Game? Obviously by then all of the bowl invites would have been issued and accepted, so are we literally left out in the cold?

It would be just our luck that we get paired up against Memphis in some bowl game and lose to all three major schools from TN this year.

Why does everyone have to use these (mostly derogatory) nicknames? Sorry, not aimed at you, just seems that way…apologies.
It’s his first season and he apparently inherited a mess. He’s a proven winner. We still have a chance to finish strong and head into ‘25 excitedly…
