Why would the NCAA open the portal BEFORE the season is over? The NCAA continues to amaze you with how dumb they are...just when you think they've done all they can to ruin the game...they say, "Hold my beer," and do this. SMH

Only reason I can figure is because signing day is Thursday and it allows for teams to know who is going and coming via the portal before signing day?

But that would seem to create more chaos in recruiting.

It's exhausting trying to keep up with the machinations of the NCAA.

The NCAA is stuck between considering the players pro athletes and student athletes. The dates matter due to transfers - it's why they really can't wait until January. So they act like school still matters when i bet a larger number of players than ever before never see the inside of a classroom.
Is the APR still and thing and if so, how is it calculated with players entering and leaving schools at such a break neck pace?

Look at college basketball...the one and dones are literally on campus for like 6 months and then off to the pros.

It doesn't open until Monday. I agree, it's gonna screw up the CFP, but they did wait till the regular season is over. All these portal announcements are just players going ahead and filling out the paperwork.

Can’t wait for the NFL, MLB and NBA to open up free agency in the middle of the playoffs.
“Hey Jones…I need you in at SAM….”
“Not now Coach. My agent working a deal with the team across the field….”

That’s exactly what a team gearing up for a potential playoff run needs.
It's going to happen to everyone this year since they moved the portal dates. The portal now closes just before the 2nd round. It will be interesting to see how this is handled with regards to players transferring out and still playing in the playoffs or not.

That is true for all the wideouts this year who aren't 2 or 5 but next year he can shine man. Probly something else going on.
Maybe he knows Law and Bernard are coming back for their senior year.
Here's the WR room, not counting Prentice.
Kendrick Law, Junior
Germie Bernard, Junior
Emmanuel Henderson, Junior
Jalen Hale, Sophomore
Cole Adams, Redshirt Freshman
Ryan Williams, Freshman
Rico Scott, Freshman
Jaren Hamilton, Freshman
Amari Jefferson, Freshman
Caleb Odom, Freshman
Bubba Hampton, Freshman

That is a lot of dudes. But we will have a QB that can spread the ball around and Kobe is in the top quarter of that list...proven commodity. There is probably someone throwing some money at him OR got some relatives in his ear. Who knows. I don't.
