Watch me smile at this quote----- "The other thing Alabama fans need to reconcile is that Saban's system was starting to show cracks, too. Not just in schemes but in the way the program was run."

It is almost as though no one recognized Saban giving us a clear look at the future in Tampa in 2023. This "team" has been controlled by the big dogs in the locker room for that long. When they decided they were only going to play for #4 in the spring of 2023, the matter of a starting quarterback was settled. The limitations that created were too much for even Saban to overcome and were certainly too much for CKB to overcome. Now, the only possibility is to make the change that has been inevitable for almost two years, even if it destroys the locker room. Thankfully, enough has been revealed to make that less of a likely outcome but the possibility still exists.
Saban could have done what Day did - tell the QB to leave. Howard is not as good as McCord, but you cannot let a player hold the team hostage, so Day showed him the door.

Saban tried to get rid of him but TCU wouldn’t bow to his demands. There is a lot that I know but don’t wish to get into, but I will say Saban has alot of blame for this fiasco for not doing what was necessary in 2023.

It tells you he didn’t have confidence in Simpson imo. Another issue is the offense was designed around Milroe to best fit his skill set which is different then Simpson’s. I won’t be surprised next season Simpson is still not the starter. He isn’t Deboer’s guy but was just inherited him like Milroe.
If that’s the case, he should have been told that at latest before the last portal window closed.

Well said again...I do think we are a little shy in the talent department on the OL and DL. We really need some help in those areas to once again compete with the best.

He was the only option because DeBoer did not prepare anyone but Milroe for this game. That scares me, but for reasons which differ from yours. I knew what Milroe was.
We cannot know if Milroe is the best option if the other guys never get a chance to play. Ty outplayed Milroe at A-Day two years in a row, so what are we even doing?

That is why I have respect for Day. He may not be the best coach in the world, but he told a high profile player to go screw himself in an era where no other coach would.

And I’m sorry, but no, Milroe does not get brownie points for being a “good soldier” off the field. Literally every Bama QB in my entire life has done that. That is the expectation. You are honestly making excuses for him at this point.
The thing is he wasn't a 'good soldier'.

He leveraged and manipulated his way into a vice grip on the QB1 position. He injected poison into the locker room.

He's a Good Student academically and that's all I can say that's positive.

But I didn't like the player or the personality.

You can't lose the turnover battle 3-0 and expect to win. Milroe has terrible eye
discipline. He looks at defenders when running and not his blockers.
When passing he must be looking at the rush cause we had receivers running
free across field all day. He makes bad decisions and he wll never make it in the pros.
He played poorly in all our four losses. Sometime this season he should have been
benched.
