I'v been mulling it over and reading some of the Bama media guys' take on things.

I know Jam was the leading rusher last year...but (as a few others have pointed out) we had a Mickey Mouse offense last year that rarely ever utilized the skill players (other than featuring J. Milroe's legs).

The difference this year will be night and day. Like going from 1800's tech to the 2000's. The ability to function like a 21st-century, modern offense again will nullify much of our concerns about losing Jam.

The biggest issue will be missing his pass blocking/blitz protection.

The big issue in losing Jam isn’t so much the talent issue. Young and Hill are tremendously talented guys. The difference is in style. Hill and Young are the big back, physical guys. Jam offered a little bit of change up. A little quicker, a little more of a threat on the edges.

Not to imply Jam isn’t “physical”. All you have to is look at the guy. He is a beast. He is just a step or two “quicker”.

Maybe Dear or Washington or Riley can offer that in his absence?
Miller is 221 lbs
Young is 212 lbs
Washington is 216 lbs

Offensively, this team has got nowhere to go but up after what the skilled players have had to endure with the past two years at QB.

Excellent point. I heard Martin Houston say a similar thing on his podcast, albeit before the Jam injury. One thing DeBoer showed in his first year is his willingness to play guys “early and often” in meaningful roles. Houston said he feels we are going to see young guys get the chance to step up early.
You never want to lose a player of Jam’s caliber for any significant period of time. But situations like this does allow you to get other players on the field and build depth.
Yes... Noticed this last year that we played more guys by far. Under Saban we really did not sub in the back seven, just OLB and the DL.

I know he's down on the depth chart and it probably won't happen, but I would like to see Kevin Riley get a few touches a game just because he brings something that none of the other backs can do.
