College Gameday coming to Tuscaloosa this weekend for Vandy

The only reason I’m even posting this is because they are going to get a lot of heat for snubbing FSU-Miami this week…. and it’s still wild that College Gameday is featuring a game with Vandy. Granted Vandy has actually hosted a College Gameday game (2008 vs Auburn)

There is going to be a lot of complaining from the state of Florida…. Yeah I know “no one watches Gameday”, “I can’t stand it because of Pat Mcafee”, and yadda Yadda Yadda. I’m just highlighting how crazy college football has become.

Why is it that 75% of the time gameday is in Tuscaloosa the guest speaker either has no connection in the least to the University or is a huge supporter of whatever team we are playing???????????? It is never that way when gameday is at other colleges. I just don't get it. If I was the AD I would tell ESPN to go pound sand unless they were using a genuine supporter/ex player of the University of Alabama.

Fans need to come with posters expressing disgust. ESPN please dont come to Ttown without decent guest picker

The problem is that Alabama doesn’t really have the big celebrity who pulls for us, and we have done it so many times that bringing Joe out there doesn’t really make for much entertainment especially when Vandy is the opponent.

FWIW I can only remember like 3 times in which we hosted it and it wasn’t an Alabama affiliated person.

1) 2011 LSU where Brian Wilson.
2) Marcus Lutrell- I mean Saban had him down there to speak to the team and it’s kinda hard to pass on him if he is there
3) Nate Bargatz- probably the biggest comedian in the south at the time.

But my point is, we can all save “James spann” or “sela ward” but none of those move the needle. Many of our former players have just passed on the opportunity according to many sources and it kinda leaves ESPN with a hard time trying to find someone.

Theo Vann I wished they just passed on, because 1) he has done it before and 2) he is annoying. But again this Gameday coming to Tuscaloosa is far more about Vandy than it’s about Alabama so they desperately want atleast one guy on the panel picking Vandy and hyping them up.
 
I’ll be on the golf course at the time and don’t really watch much of CGD anyway, so I don’t really care, but yeah, find someone with a connection to the university. Also, I like Pat McAfee.

they could have gotten someone from YouTube ((SEC shorts, Funnymaine, SEC roll call), Terry Saban, literally anyone else. Then again as you said this is all about Vandy and I expect the guest to pick vandy and probably Desmond Howard to do it too.

Normally, I'd have rather had Gameday at FSU-Miami and SEC Nation in Tuscaloosa. I much prefer the environment and personalities - as a whole - of SEC Nation.

Coach Saban being on the set makes a fair bit of difference, though...
 
In OK, they got Trae Young, are we saying there isn’t any xBama player in another sport that wouldn’t do it? I don’t buy it.

I find it hard to believe they couldn't have found anyone. I know why they won't do Kaitlan Collins even though I think she would be perfect. But still, Juilo just retired, Josh Jacobs is on a bye, and then there are a ton of other options for former players (McCarron, Mount cody, etc). I think Justin Thomas has done it before but he's a good pick, could go with an NBA player (Branond Miller, Herb Jones, etc), Nate Oats, and while idc about James Spann at least he would be connected to Alabama.

I could go on and on. I have a hard time believing everyone said no. There are some other political people that could work and a few celebrities that at least have some connection (Channing Tatum, Condoleezza Rice).

Anyway, it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things but it is a little annoying the guest picker is going to pick Vandy.

1) They are not going to get someone political right now.

2) It’s been heavily hinted at throughout the years that Alabama players don’t like participating in it compared to other schools

3) really the biggest actor names from Alabama currently are Walton Goggins and Channing Tatum. But football allegiances is unknown

1) I know I get it. But then again Theo Von is hardly apoltical.

2) I get it kinda but also there are so many players I find it hard to fully believe. Plus basketball guys would also work. I'd be happy with Nate Oats personally

3) Yeah I do get this one but I still feel like there are enough options that I find it hard to believe they had to go with a guy who is going to pick Vandy.

I think they just wanted to pick someone more Vandy leaning.

You can look him up on YouTube. He is an unfunny comedian hack and he recently made the news by joking about killing himself when he bombed on stage.
