Calling Obamacare a disaster is a bit much. It did expand coverage and most of the problems are due to the Republicans continuously fighting the notion that everyone should be covered.

Working in medicine for the past thirty years... The private insurance market is inefficient and costly. A national plan wouldn't be a panacea either. But we could certainly do better if we didn't have to deal with profit extraction on every level by private companies aided by their government allies.

This is just another grift ultimately... Follow the cash...
Interesting take; thank you. Having said that, every doctor or nurse I've ever spoken to about it feels differently about the ACA (or most of it. I think we can all agree that parts of it were quite beneficial.) Hearing a different view from a medical professional is one of the reasons why we're here! The long-term cost of Obamacare has, as usual, outpaced expectation, which is what we've come to expect from programs such as this.

Yes, private insurance is a mess and without real competition, they have no real incentive to either improve or lower premiums. Obamacare didn't fix this and it never will. I still maintain that there is nothing the government does that the private sector can't do better by orders of magnitude. Any thoughts on the point of the article?

Am I being redundant by calling Dear Leader a lying sack of doodoo?

Remember when he and his doofus Veep lied about not knowing anything about Project 2025?

To the gullible who bought this lie, you own this.

Those who claimed to believe Trump about Project 2025 were either naive or ok with him implementing it. You can tell which is which by following who’s now speaking out against it and who is silent.

Remember when Obama was running in '08? He held up a sample insurance card for the public option.

And remember the 1st thing that came off the table as soon as the negotiations started? The public option.

The insurance lobby was allowed to write the whole bill. And then they lobbied against it.

Yep, exactly. Talk about an acting job! Sheesh! Yeah, these insurance companies that everybody hates has made a TON of money off of Obamacare, but seemingly no one wants to acknowledge it. Weasels on both sides of the aisle are getting compensated well for this. Even funnier is the fact that Obamacare was also partially written by Republicans, NOT Democrats. My cardiologist's PA told me years ago that Obamacare was just RomneyCare repackaged.

Mind you, I'm not stating Obamacare is the way to go. It was compromised from the beginning. But we should make it possible for almost everyone to be covered, and we could do it if we wanted to.

I don't have a perfect answer for you and anyone who says they do have it is lying, a grifter, insane, or floating out in lala land.

Weasels is an apt term...

as i have mentioned before, my daughter had stellar coverage for her second open heart surgery (at about 15 months old) and the year's of followup due to obamacare.

the constant, smug, "disaster" and hyperbolic talk about it from early on is a whole bunch of b.s.

It wasn’t a disaster either, just a program flawed by politics that ultimately resulted in many receiving very needed care. We can do better and should.

ACA is a mess because you're spreading the cost of pre-existing conditions over the entire population.

Instead of doing that, just have the feds pay for pre-existing conditions and reduce everybody else's premiums, allowing young healthy people to have catastrophic only policies. You wouldn't even need tax credits then.

Policy premiums for middle-class families would plummet.

So take what you're spending on the tax credits now and spend that on pre-existing conditions at the Fed level. Problem solved.

@arthurdawg What do you think of this? It sounds good to me, but if not, what am I missing?

I have some background in purchasing group health plans and understand a bit about cost drivers and cost that corporations face in providing health care for their employees and families. All health insurance is about spreading the cost to the whole in order to care for the ill.

One could ask now who will bear the cost to public hospitals for those who have lost medicade coverage that pass through their emergency doors who are critically ill. It will have to be spread to those patients who have coverage whether medicare or private.

Clinton attempted to tackle health care cost in his first term and presented some sound ideas. There was no one intrested at all on the Republican side.

Obama with a Democratic majority was able to push through a compromise plan that bowed to the special interest of private insurance companies.

The only input from the Republicans has been the attempt to kill the Obama plan.

There are no easy answers and a ton of political and special interest issues involved.

Earlier this morning, on President Trump's orders, I directed a lethal, kinetic strike on a narco-trafficking vessel affiliated with Designated Terrorist Organizations in the USSOUTHCOM area of responsibility. Four male narco-terrorists aboard the vessel were killed in the strike, and no U.S. forces were harmed in the operation. The strike was conducted in international waters just off the coast of Venezuela while the vessel was transporting substantial amounts of narcotics - headed to America to poison our people.

Our intelligence, without a doubt, confirmed that this vessel was trafficking narcotics, the people onboard were narco-terrorists, and they were operating on a known narco-trafficking transit route. These strikes will continue until the attacks on the American people are over!!!!

Another drug boat has gone over to that Silvah City, Lawd, Lawd.

Donald Trump could be on new $1 coin: What to know - Newsweek

This is disgusting. Celebrating the 250th birthday of this country should not be commemorated by plastering this fat, slob of a man baby all over everything. It always has to be about him; he is such a weak, soulless child.

I'm not surprised, though, all dictators eventually put themselves on the currency. Plus, he knows he has to force all this crap on us now because history will not do it for him.
