Bama Game Thread: Official PostGame Thread - Bama vs. UTe...

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

After further review, I'm giving #42 an assist on the pick six. Aguilar had to get that ball up over his hand which ever so slightly delayed the ball getting to the receiver. Pierre came close to deflecting the pass...glad he didn't. The little things make such a big difference.

I doubt he got yelled at. I have seen much worse. Yeah for a split second it looked that way but he clearly held on to the ball well into the end zone. Unlike some of these players that act like the ball is on fire as they cross the pylon.

They need to run sprints into the endzone at practice keeping the danged ball high and tight until they circle the goal post 7 times... Hanging onto it with one hand is a terrible practice!

I think i heard where UT was fined $50,000 for faking an injury in our game.

aTm was and the Vols should be too. I know which play would be the one. It was later in the game and I believe it was the running back, Bishop (?). I yelled at the tv that the refs should have called a flag because it was obvious what he did.

That’s why I loved Shaun Alexander. He carried that thing like it was his child until he found the ref in the back of the endzone and gave the ball to him.

So I love the 1992 team but if you go back and watch they would play fast and loose with how they held onto the ball going into the endzone. 😂

George teagues high step. 😂😂😂

I didn’t get to watch much of the first half, and I’m watching it now. Seriously, what the heck were they even looking at on the 1st down catch by Ryan Williams? It was clearly a catch and Ryan’s arm was under the ball and it never touched the ground. Matt Austin sounded like he was shocked they upheld the call. SMH.

Also, Ty literally THREW a fumble…absolutely pathetic officiating.
A friend who used ot officiate high school basketball said you can tell a lot about who touched the ball last by which way it is going as it heads out of bounds. Not everything, but a lot.
In the case of the "fumble," as I was watching it, I was asking myself, "if the ball is moving forward, when was it allegedly 'knocked' out of Ty's hand?" It was possible the ball could be knocked loose from Ty's control and then he "pushed" the ball forward (and I'm sure the officials say that was the case), but I did not see the ball knocked loose before Ty's hand was moving forward.

The coaching point for Alabama players is that, just because you are pretty sure it was an incomplete pass, go ahead and treat it like a fumble until ruled otherwise.

Yep, his arm was going forward and the ball went forward. Bad call.

The little explanation they did give on the broadcast was even though the ball went forward it didn't "look like" Simpson had any form of control over it in his hand. I disagree, but that was the explanation I remember hearing from the rules "expert" on the broadcast.

For the ball to go forward like it did, his arm had to go forward with the ball at least a little before it came out of his hand.
