Bama Game Thread: Official PostGame Thread - Bama @ AU...

Bray did a great job but whoever tipped the ball gets at least as much credit as Bray’s lollipop int and Lawson shares the fumble since he recovered the ball that Bray and another player with whom he teamed up to get the ball free.
The Barn gets the credit for the interception ... hit the receiver in his hands and it popped up

While it was a close game. It didn't have that miserable JHS Voodo feel to it. For once I will actually feel like rewatching the whole JHS iron bowl. Maybe CKD has auburn's number. I know they were 5-6, But this was a big win because it was them on their own field and they couldn't magically make stuff happen like they have in past.. I never felt like we were in danger of losing the game. I am not used to saying that when it comes to JHS iron Bowls

As far as I can tell, and to be honest I can’t tell much, the majority of the problem is the offensive line. The RB’s are getting contact really early on most runs over the course of the season and the Ty has no idea where the untouched pass rusher is coming from or who will just whiff on their block. The tackles just don’t have it in them to block consistently. This is not a good offensive line and that causes the offense to be inconsistent over the course of a game. One drive looks great because they did ok blocking the next one is a dumpster fire because on two of three downs they got destroyed in some fashion and Ty is looking at the sky or a RB is hit in the backfield.

The long developing plays don’t help because you are asking a subpar, by Bama standards, group to hold up for even longer.

I watched DeBoer and Grubb run those triple reverse throwback flea flicker halfback option Philly special plays in Washington with precision and execution. At Bama, those plays are destroyed in the first leg of all that. I don’t know if it’s the athletes in this conference or what, but they need to stop all that.
How many times did Germine Bernard touch the football? They bring 7 much of the night and the Bama offense seldom gets the ball out quickly to one of their best athletes in a one on one match up?

The offense needs to go back to the short pass plays, when Ty had the ball 2 seconds before it left his hand. And the other plays they were doing. They were moving the chains in a way that chewed up the clock. And they looked good doing it. Then they decided to start throwing long passes that were not working well. The defenses are blitzing, and the long pass plays take too long. Then Ty is crippled and can't make the plays. Pass protection is not what it should be.

It was more like the 2015 Iron Bowl, a couple of fluky big plays from Auburn made it uncomfortable for a bit but we didn't need a miracle to win this time.

I noticed that too. Early in the season, people were surprised at the zip on the ball 20-25 yards downfield. Now they are all floaters with a lot of air. And his deep ball is terrible. Has he connected on a deep ball the last 4 weeks?
I agree, Simpson's passes don't seem to have the same velocity as earlier in the season. He may very well be hurt and cannot produce the zip on the ball that he had. Another obvious reason is the pressure the OL cannot slow up from the pass rush. Lack of velocity on the ball may be attributable to throwing off his back foot and not being able to followup through in his release because he has the opponent's DL almost instantly in his face or he is on the run. The OL is the biggest problem with this team.

He doesn’t have a quarterback that fits his style. His style is to push the ball down the field with the passing game which Simpson doesn’t do well. I also think he has some sort of injury as there isn’t much on the throws over 20 yards. They are more just toss it up there type throws.
Stop, just stop. Ty's the perfect fit for his system. The guy can't help himself but to sabotage scoring momentum. Hes done it all year. The offense will be rocking, we're right on the verge of breaking game open and Grubb screws up three straight drives with dumb playcalling.

for some reason it seems like we have done that since 2021. it seems like we have rarely had consistent/complimentary play calling and end up keeping teams in the game

When teams really start bringing heat, why do we never roll Ty out? It makes zero sense to me.

What a great win in Lee County, my only complaint about the game, if our offense is running the ball well stick with it & wear down the defense running it down their throat..

Our OLine was gashing The Barn running the ball, then we suddenly abandon it, killing any momentum our offense had running the ball..

It's not that we can't run the ball, it's a matter of coaching philosophy, personally I dont like being a pass happy type offense..

This coaching staff needs too understand, when you establish the run, it completely opens up your passing game & playbook..

It feels like whenever we do it’s this low percentage roll to the short strong side to the right that turns into a Naked Boot to the left with Ty throwing against his body and that either ends in an inaccurate throw or Ty actually having some running room.

It would be better to fake motion to a weak short side and roll him right to an open field since he’s right handed ya know.

It’s frustrating at times for sure.
