I don't like celebs; never have. This felt like a fun thread to start since a lot of celebs are politically active and always quick to chime in on subjects they barely understand (if at all.) I'll kick things off with a doozy.

Pam Grier says she had to close her eyes as a kid in OH to avoid seeing blacks hung on trees

Pam Grier was born in 1949
Last lynching in Ohio: 1911

It's altogether possible that that is a false memory which she actually believes...
Possible, but not the least bit probable. I haven't done the math, but I'm certain the probabilities would suggest she's just unapologetically full of crap. These nutty celebs don't realize they are hurting their own movements when they say stuff like this.

And even if it is a 'false memory' is doesn't change the fact that it's false.

IMHO, people get too worked up over this taking sides stuff when it comes to celebs.

For example, do I dislike George Clooney, because of his politics?

Heck no.

Mostly because he's an incredible actor and BTW....have you seen how insanely beautiful his wife is?

How can that not take precedent over his politics?

His "The Descendants" is a personal fav. and I listen to the soundtrack all the time - especially when working on my motorcycles.......

Oh, I agree. I didn’t start this thread with the idea that we should stop enjoying their work. I learned a long time ago how important it is to separate the artist from the art. But I do think it’s important to point and laugh at idiots when appropriate to do so. Ricky Gervais’ absolute DESTRUCTION of celebs at his last Golden Globes hosting was historical. If you haven’t seen it, you owe it to yourself to do so.

I'm going to cut her some slack. She might actually believe it. When you've got "trusted" people (like basically the entire Democratic Party) telling you that the KKK is alive and well, all these "high tech" lynchings are taking place, the Gestapo is just over on the next block coming for you, then some extremely low intelligence people are going to eventually believe it.

This is why political rhetoric is so dangerous. Smart people can see through the BS (regardless of which side it is coming from) but we've got literally millions of citizens that can't even tell you who the vice president is, or how many branches of government there are. These people are going to believe everything that comes out of the mouth of Trump, Jeffries, Schumer, et al.

I don't pay any attention to what celebrities say about anything. I do have a few that have been so wild I have stopped watching anything they put out. I'm sure I have some selective outrage with this. I can't stand Mark Ruffalo. I find him an obnoxious nit wit, but I do love super heroes going back to my childhood so I have to put with him as the Hulk.

A lot of the MCU actors have shown their inner-nitwiticism these last few years, which is a shame. Not helping matters is what Disney has done to this franchise. At least RDJ hasn't taken the bait and seems fine with keeping his opinions to himself.

One of these people will be our governor next year...

I wonder if these kids were coached on how to respond to dumb questions like this or not.

Smart to not get baited into saying something that in no way would be constructive for their career.
