Same thing could have been said about Gene Stallings' NFL tenure.

Re: mike sherman????

Please tell me Mal Moore is kidding.... :(

Sherman was fired in 2006, after the Packers went 4-12 in the 2005 season.
In 6 years with Green Bay, he had a 57-39 regular season record and a 2-4 postseason record. He's now an assistant head coach with the Houston Texans and they have an awsome 3-8 season so far.

This is the guy Mal wants? Is he serious?

:conf2:

Re: mike sherman????

But trenda, CGS looked like the Bear and walked like John Wayne for crying out loud. That counts for alot.

On a serious note, I have a friend who played for Auburn in the late 80's and early 90's. He said that the Bama team of '89 was soft. One year later it was like hitting a brick wall. Toughness matters.

Re: mike sherman????

I firmly beleive there is little to no interest from UA! Decoy.
I hope you're right.

Oh please Gawd make this be a decoy! :frown: Maybe....just maybe if Mal met with Sherman, it was to discuss ideas on another coach. Maybe Sherman has some pull with someone in Texas?

Re: mike sherman????

Serious discussion is appreciated but Mike Sherman?

It should be against the law to be drunk this early in the morning.

Bayoutider:

We're dead serious. I wouldn't be up at 5:30 in the morning freaking out over this if it were a joke.

Here's the Link

Say it ain't so....

hey i'm just asking about what i woke up to on the TUSCALOOSA NEWS WEBSITE. i'm just asking what's going on up there in that athletic dept?

i'm beginning to think mal moore....nevermind i'm sure you know.

and trenda how am i reaching when you compare mike sherman and gene stallings. one has a national title and 70 wins in 7 seasons. one was a mediocre to bad hc in the nfl.

OZZIE OZZIE OZZIE!

if you want me to get drunk i will, it is my first day off in quite a while.

Re: mike sherman????

I think every candidate is more qualified than me so I will not shoot anyone down.....

Ozzie is right! Man, we need to lay out some bucks for him as well. Dont know if he'd ever come back though.

don't want to turn this into a ozzie thread but he's stated he's always wanted to come back in that capacity on numerous occasions. i think law states that he have to have a masters degree or something to that effect. i would hope that they could weave their way around it. if i remember correctly that he doesn't have the "necessary" requirements.

it would be a huge shot in the arm to the university and he'd clean house and run our program back to where it belongs. FOR GOOD!

Re: mike sherman????

If there is any interest in Mike Sherman it is news to us.
Is it possible they just met with him to discuss possible other coaches? (I hope). Or maybe Sherman just wanted to be considered (but he isnt truly being considered)?

The link to the actual story on the front page there wasnt working a few minutes ago so we really dont know what is going on. Nothing against Sherman personally, but I hope he isnt really being considered.

:(

Re: mike sherman????

I don't think it's drunkedness-more like inability to read and comprehend.
"A source close to Houston Texans assistant head coach/offense Mike Sherman indicated that he would be interested in the position
if the Crimson Tide came calling." (Tuscaloosa News, Wednesday, November 29, 2006 Section C front page by Christopher Walsh, Sports Writer.)
Article also states Sherman was the HC GBP (2000-05) guiding them to three
division titles and five winning seasons. But, of course, he'd have to change his first name b/4 he could even be on anyone's list.

Re: mike sherman????

Stallings was 23-34-1 with the Cardinals and 27-45-1 with the Aggies before coming to the Capstone.

Mike Sherman went 57-39 in his only stint as a HC with the Packers.

"Reachin'" ????????

Sherman had much better players at Green Bay than Stallings had with the Cardinals plus Sherman had Brett Farve as his QB.:)

nah skipper, no problems with reading or comprehending. just posted early this morning what was on the tuscasloosa website (which is still not available as of 8:11am so i'm not getting your quotes). i think your the one with the problem comprehending things around here.

i'll refrain from posting articles relevant to the hc search. my bad. don't shoot the messenger!
