If any Sooner Fans are lurking, I'd like to get your take..b

I borrowed this from MemphisTider's Blog. For the complete story
mash here ---> http://memphistider.blogspot.com/

This is an excerpt from that page regarding Coach Stoops.

August 3, 2006 at 12:36 pm | In Oklahoma Sooners, Bob Stoops, collegefootballtalk.com, Bob Stoops NFL rumor | No Comments
Collegefootballtalk.com Rumor Mil is reporting, “Several NFL sources told us late Wednesday night that incident to the breaking story that Oklahoma starting QB Rhett Bomar was kicked off the team Wednesday after an investigation revealed he broke NCAA rules by working at a private business and (gasp) was getting paid for work he didn’t really do, acquaintances of OU Coach Bob Stoops “will start putting out feelers now to the NFL that he wants to be a head coach there in 2007.”
Reckon who those acquaintances are? Maybe SOS? What might SOS have recommended about the NFL? Hey---I know where there is a clean college program that needs a coach (Bama)----you need to forget that NFL mess and stay where you belong and know what kind of good you can do!

Sure would be nice if at least we could talk to him and extend an offer, but it probably won't happen. From what I understand, he was confronted with a question at his press conference back on tuesday regarding the UA job and he basically shot down the whole rumor of him having any interest in ANY job period. Of course, that's typical coachspeak, but I don't see us even getting a chance to speak with him. Hope I am wrong...

I may be wrong, but I think CBS (the coach, not the network:) )may well be the guy we end up with. If CSS was supposedly a smokescreen, then I believe Saban is too. I understand Stoops was VERY upset at the way the OU admin handled the whole Bomar situation. Maybe we will know soon.

I agree with you. I think some people on this board might be part of those 2 smoke screens.

Perhaps Mal moore has talked to Stoops. As well, maybe Moore has talked to Spurrier about talking to Stoops trying to persuade from more than one angle. For those who haven't been on this planet the past 15 or so years, Stoops was once the DC for Spurrier at Florida.

Why would SOS be helping Bama get a coach? Espically 1 as good as Stoops?

Im going to be disappointed if it's not a Stoops,Saban,Spurrier,Davis or even J,Johnson. I know the others are great upgrades but i expect one of the above.
It is one of the above right?

You should read the blog. It has big print and pictures. It states that Spurrier was one of the guys that turned Bama in and is one of the reasons we suffered such ungodly sanctions. He owes us one and he'll be doing CBS a favor as well.

Owes us? Owes us what? Why in hell would SOS want Stoops in the SEC? Thats just crazy. He might have had a talk with Stoops about the NFL but I just can't see him being a part in the search for Bama's coach. Surely after all that you've read on here you dont belevie everything you read? DONT EAT THE YELLOW ACID!!!!!!!!!

----#1 He accused Bama of something that was unwarranted and being the fair guy he is, he owed us one

This what it says about SOS turning us in. CAN YOU READ THE PRETTY LETTERS. He thought there was something afoul with Mathis ( I Think) or some OL from GA that committed to UF ended up at Bama ,with a new truck, that SOS thought someone had gave him to come. It was checked into and found out that the payment book was in the kids mom's name. The kid said he changed his mind becauce SOS kicked at his dog when it jumped on him on a visit.

I've just been told from a "source" that Mickey Mouse is now got involved in the coaching search and is tring to lure Nick Saban to Bama. After what Mickey caused Big Al to do its the least he can do for us.

My source is none other than Donal Duck. Donald swore to me that he got his info from Goofy himself.

John,

As a fellow tuscaloosan, i love your music, man("smoke from a distant fire" is on my I-pod), but if you think for one minute that because SS thinks 'he owes us one' that he would somehow deliver us BS then you need to either hold off on the consumption of alcohol or other illegal substances....;)

SOS does owe us one for that $1/2M raise.

Re: If OwenField Dreams or any other Sooner fans are lurking, I'd like to get your take..

"An employee of an aircraft ground support and fuel provider in St. Augustine said a plane registered to South Carolina was there, and that she had been told Spurrier was on board by the flight crew. The plane supposed to be carrying Alabama representatives was there on a matter unrelated to the coaching search, the plane’s pilot said."

This was posted Thursday, Nov 30 on the Official Spurrier Thread. Maybe it was unrelated to the coaching search concerning SOS. I just remember reading that and since it took me about 1/2 to find it, I figured I'd post it.

If my info is correct and (everything I have been told so far has happened) I believe that it is correct. Then you are exactly right. Stoops has been looking for a way out since this summer. MemphisTider's blog carries a lot of weight. A little more conspired a than I have been told, but pretty close. This is not a "done deal" but I've been hinting to him most of the week and I will gladly post I was wrong if he isn't hired early next week.
