I have no confidence that the Huntsville (behind the) Times can report any "breaking news." Lately, when they've reported something it has either been unfounded, citing faulty sources, or it reports something that is two days old. One thing I've learned from this coaching change, get your news from here and Cecil Hurt.

Funniest thing about this whole thing is

Fact - only one person has been offered
Fiction - We have had numerous candidates turn us down
Fact - Names like Grobe and Nutt aren't even on the radar at the moment.
Fiction - we are desperate for someone to say yes.
Fact - The University will wait UNTIL they think it will harm the program in the long term - losing potential candidates as some of you have suggested.
Fact - Waiting through December will not be overly harmful to recruiting. Dead period. We want to recruit through January, not December. IMO, a big named coach is worth it.
Fact - University would not take this risk if they did not have an alternate plan with another big time coach.

I want a coach just as bad as everyone else. However, I took a step back took a shot of reality and realized, it's been one week. HONESTLY, I'd be more uncomfortable if the AD had rushed into a decision. We have options this go-round, something we aren't used to.

I'll wait, just give me a coach who can win games.

If we get Grobe thats a step backwards in my opinion....very overrated coach

I absolutely agree. These rumors are getting very old. I don't know what they give the kids in AR to make them get so lucky in games. It certainly isn't quality coaching. Nutt is a complete idiot. Why would Bama want to hire a coach that was potentially getting fired for lack of performance from his present job?
 
I'm pretty ambivalent about Grobe but RR worries me more. He is leaving his alma mater to coach at Bama. How long till he gets another offer he likes better and pulls a Fran? Except for the unusual deal with Perkins, I can't imagine anyone leaving their own school, even though it was for the pros. Too bad we don't have an alum who is qualified.
 
If that is the case then they need to offer Rod and end this thing. I really believe Saban is still in this and won't believe any different until they announce another coach.

What's the point of rushing, besides you just wanting to know who the coach is? Seriously think about that.
 
Interesting, but until the B'ham News reports something that magically becomes true, I will highly doubt this story. Interesting though, just going to have to be patient!!

Were you saying the same thing when Coach Stallings was hired because NOTHING in his record said "Good Coach" - Losing records with both Texas A&M and the St. Louis/Arizona Cardinals.

I can'r remember what I said when GS was hired, I was only in the 6th grade when he won the NC. I don't know what GS coaching record was before he was hired, but I do believe Grobe's overall record is barely better that .500... I could be mistaken though.
