Can Alabama get a Top 10 Recruiting Class this year?

Can Coach Saban and Staff recruit a top ten class this year?

nah, there isnt enough time left. Plus, the auburn, USC, and Florida classes have most of the top players... making it hard to grab that "andre smith" to make our recruiting class. I think Lorando mcclain is our star recruit, though most say its robert marve. Lorando is a bit underrated at a 4 star. I've seen the kid play and he is absolutely UNBELIEVABLE. If we get that safety from mobile we may have a top 15 recruiting class. With the way this coaching search went, that would be huge.
 
Can we? Yes. Will we? We'll see. There are a couple of guys who are four and five star recruits who already had us on their lists. Now, with a new sheriff in town, we might get those guys plus a few more. Of course, I think we can only sign 18 this year, so the other guys who sign-up will have to be four or five star guys. I would be surprised if we don't get in the top fifteen, but top ten will be tough with only eighteen scholarships available. We need Marve, Bailey, Brown, Corley, McNeil, Gibson, and maybe one or two more to get up there in the top fifteen. This is assuming we keep the guys who are already committed. Roll Tide. A new day is dawning at the Capstone.

I say no based entirely on the fact that we can only sign around 15 or 16 guys. If we could sign a full 25 player class, I would definately think it possible. If Saban signs a top-10 class with only 15 signatures, a lot of other coaches in this league are going to cough up a spleen (namely ears and phatlock.)

If those Texas recruits keep jumping ship like they have done, we might have a a chance.:wink:

If we sign more than what we were previously expecting then it's possible, but otherwise I don't see it as being all that likely.
 
Yes we can, now if someone like Kerry Murphy a 5* signs he can be a sign and place and the John Brown another I think 5*. Their grades are in question and would count towards a higher signed class but not against the numbers of freshman in the fall. I am not sure we get all or any of the 5* kids on our list but if we sign around three or four (say scout) 5* yes we would be in the top 10.

I wanted to put Chad Jones on the list but was getting a little greedy as is, Jones is a 5* Safety and I think if we get McNeil we are fine. Jones is a big boy around 6'3" and about 230. He might get a call for a LB pos. but will likely go to LSU. I would like to get Chris Donald another 5* LB that has just hung around long enough. Also some OL you never can have enough and we might go after one with the new staff ( another reason we may get in the top 10 is if we keep the OL now as grays).
 
I voted no, also based on the no. of schollys available. It is hard to have a top ranked recruiting class without a full complement of scholarships to give. I do, however, believe that we will have a recruiting class that we will be extremely happy with.

Chris Donald is unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!! However he is going to the VOLS. The kid is from my hometown and if he pulls a switch then he hasn't told anybody since last night. BAMA will do just fine without him! BUT IF HE TURNED CRIMSON THE PEOPLE IN MY HOMETOWN would DIE!!!!!!!!!:biggrin2: :BigA:

There is talk of UT top blue chip LB wavering on the news of Saban. I have not seen the name but the viles are not taking it well.
 
Signing day is most of the time on 2-2-year. I hope Chris Donald does not go to the vols what a waste if he does they have a ton of LB talent that is coming back. I would rather see him go to Notre Dame who he has high on his list. How close to Knoxville or Tuscaloosa is Huntington,Tn.
