Best players ever from your high school?

Re: Best players Ever from your high school

Not necessarily the best, but the best this week.

Hunter Hillenmeyer - OLB - Bears - Starting in Super Bowl (2/4)
Brandt Snedeker - 3rd in Buick Invitational (1/28)

Re: Best players Ever from your high school

My school can't compete with most of you guys. I'm from a small school in Magee, MS

Kyle Wallace (Miss. State)
And a kicker to Troy State, but his name escapes me. That's about it.

Magee?? Well some of the players I'm about to list probably played against y'all in the state championship a few years back. (I'm from Amory)

Rufus French-OM and Seattle Seahawks
Joe Gunn-OM
Will Hall-UNA:Harlon Hill Trophy winner
Chris Rainey-MSU

We've also got 2 guys that start for MSU's baseball team right now if that means anything.

Re: Best players Ever from your high school

Rufus French is one of the saddest stories ever, From All-American TE to pumping gas within 365 days . . . :(

He shoulda stayed til his Sr. year and bulked up a little bit so he could have played in the NFL, the lure of millions was just too much for him though . . .

Re: Best players Ever from your high school

Gallatin High School
Gallatin, TN

Ray Oldham
Darryl Holt - Vanderbilt & Steelers
Carl Wood - Vanderbilt & NFL
Thomas D. Woods - UT(was the all-time reception leader when he graduated there) & World League
Brent Alexander - Tennessee State & Cardinals, Steelers, Giants
Markell Rice - the best I ever saw. He was a stud QB who blew out his knee in a spring scrimmage before his senior year when a TON of SEC scouts were there to watch. Didn't play his senior year, but still got a ride to Western Kentucky.
Jeremy McMurry - MTSU
Calvin Hall - UA
I graduated with Jeremy & Calvin. I got a few looks from SEC schools, but they all said I was too short for an SEC OL. I ended up playing at MTSU.

I'm sure I am leaving out plenty, but those are the ones who stick out to me.

Re: Best players Ever from your high school

Jake Peavy (Padres All Star)
Jean Felix (Bama Basketball)
Chevis Jackson (LSU DB)
Tiger Jones (Louisville WR)
Brent Johnson (Louisville Safety)

And a lot of college baseball and golfers.

Very very true. Although he's not that bad off. Last I checked he lived next to a friend of mine in a pretty decent house and I forgot what he does for a living but it's not that bad. Him and his wife and a young un and are doing pretty good here in town.

Re: Best players Ever from your high school

Ahhh, Memory Lane...

Former Tiders Eddie Bo Rogers and Mike Sasser were coaches at my high school when I was there.

A few years later, when I was in college, a guy named Major Ogilvie showed up. :)

I'll never forget a playoff game against Decatur, when Benny Perrin was the QB there. Time was running out in the first half, MBHS had the ball about midfield, seems like it was third or fourth and long. The call? A draw play! Major dragged a couple of defenders into the end zone....

I was there, too. DHS had a 1st down inside the M.B. 10 with less than a minute, no timeouts, and didn't score. Major had about 270 yards rushing.

Whew, I think I intentionally forgot that part, but you're right, Tex. From the visitor's stands, DHS was driving to the end zone on my left, as I recall, when time ran out. Major's half-ending TD was to my right.
