Colbert Co. (AL.) High:

Ozzie Newsome - needs no introduction.
Phillip Gargis - ( QB at the Onliest Village on the Plains) . . The year these two were seniors, they played Cullman for the 3A title. (four classifications at that time) Trailed 21 - 0 at the half. Won the game 51-21. Six guys from that team played SEC or Gulf South level (Jax State, Troy State) football.

Dante Ellington - off tackle for the 1999 SEC champs.

Leon Douglas played some hoops for the Tide

Theodore High School

P.S. Hey Born a Tider, you were talking about Shaw High School here in Mobile. When I played at Theodore, from my Sophomore year til my Senior year, we only lost four games in football in three years. Two of the four was to Shaw. They had great teams and were always tough. It is a shame what's happened to the program. Last year they only had about 22 to 23 kids to suit up for football. Sad.

Steve Hyche. Played at West Alabama when it was still Livingston. He played for Da Bears and the Cardinals in the NFL.

Tim Simon. 6' 1" 200 lb. current Cordova Blue Devil RB going into his Jr. year. Look for him in the near future.

Man, you didn't have to say anything.

I know Leon was from Leighton. But we had a Douglas that was the leading scorer in school history for a long time and we use to tell underclassman that he was Leon. I think the douglas that was a Patriot actually went to Ala. State, or Ala. A&M.

I can't think of any D-1 football players off the top of my head, but my favorite of my HS's alumni is Darrell Hammond -SNL. He did the best Bill Clinton impression of all time. He had a quote from his stand up special on Comedy Central... "I come from the part of Alabama where the numerical system consists of 'one, two, and a sh**load'"

Bob Baumhower-Northside High, Samantha. Robert Earl Hannah (Rabbit) was pretty dang good also, Rabbit Hannah & Moose Guin were a combo that were nearly unstoppable in 1966.

Hey Duke, yes it is sad. When did you play? I played '81-'85 and can guarantee you we didn't beat you......of course, we won a total of 6 games in 4 yrs (4 coming in my senior year!) We were so bad, I was the player of the year in '85 at 5'9" and 165.....wow, how I would love to be closer to that weight now!!
