Best players ever from your high school?

Re: Best players Ever from your high school

Pinson Valley High School

Warren Lyles (Bama noseguard - late 70's/early 80's)
Anthony Smiley (backup linebacker at Bama early 80's)
Demarcus Waldrep (current Bama linebacker)
Desmond Jennings (TBD)

That is all that I know of.

Re: Best players Ever from your high school

Ben Grubbs, OL at the Barn.

A fellow ECHS Grad, I see. Yes, it would have to be Grubbs and I'm sure he'll be 1st to NFL from Eclectic. Two others that come to mind but injury cut into any success would be Smith back in 69 and Adams in 71, both Barners, as well. Elmore County is too near to Lee.

Re: Best players Ever from your high school

Dennis Homan (Bama reciever in the 60's) Packers
Jason Allen (UT corner...Yeah I know) Dolphins 1st round pick 06 draft
Rece Davis ESPN does that count?

Muscle Shoals High School

Re: Best players Ever from your high school

I'm also a Fairhope alum. Our school also turned out Tobie Shiels, center on the 1992 national championship team. Fairhope also featured Mike DuBose as an assistant coach in the 1970's.

Geez, how could I forget Tobie? I went to high school with Tobie's older brother Todd. I can remember playing sandlot ball back in the day. Tobie was always the toughest to tackle.

I had no idea DuBose once walked the sidelines at FHS. You learn something new everyday.

Fairhope was a powerhouse until they built Daphne HS.

MikeUA69,
B. Grubbs from Eclectic. Maybe not, Alvin Freeman was 2-time state POY. He was fast an powerful, but grades were atrocious. Not all his fault, the school never made him take schoolwork seriously. I always thought he could have sued the BOE for dereliction of duty.

Good to see Alvin's name.

Re: Best players Ever from your high school

Born a Tider, I thought Kelvin Sigler also played at Shaw? He played Safety at Bama 94-99, that boy could hit.

How could I forget? Thanks for reminding me. Chris Samuels, Kelvin Sigler and myself, not bad. :)

In the late 90s, Kelvin even tied Fernando Bryant for the team lead in interceptions with 3. Surprising in that Kelvin usually looked to lay you out instead of looking for the interception.
