The coaches have been pushing the players and the players are responding to it in kind, great news! Sounds the players are already doing what Saban wants them to do - hold each other accountable.

Pendry took over the O-line. I don't know aout S&C. I thought we held on to the one we had. (the only remaining Shula staffer)

Yep, Rocky Colburn is still on the staff. The story is is that his program wasn't the problem with the S&C as much as it was coaches not holding the player's feet to the fire when it came to S&C.

You really want to see something, watch Saban's reaction if too many (probably one!) players fail the conditioning run. CNS is huge on S&C, fall camp is NOT for getting into shape, it's for honing the teams skills. Players at LSU who failed the conditoning test, and there were few, saw reduced playing time.

Is Coach Colburn's S&C program more like the one that Coach Ben Pollard ran or does it still incorporate the yoga and flexibility training of Coach Johnson?

Yes Rocky Colburn is still there with assistance from Coach Cochran, which I beleive Saban brought in from the NBA who he had worked with before. Also Pendry is apparently the OL coach these days.

Didn't know Capps had shoulder surgery. That is the first time I had heard that. Glad to see this news of the S&C program. I hope all of this extra lifting and new coaches lights a fire under the tails of our OL and we can go back to the days of "here come the elephants". Taylor Pharr came not too far from where I grew up, and I have been looking for him to get better. Even though it would be a young OL, how cool would it be to see Smith, Caldwell, Pharr, Stabler and maybe Davis or someone else on the line together. That would be scary in a year or so.

I had forgotten that Capps had surgery scheduled. They announced that at the end of the season, but there was a lot of other news that it could hide in. I may be wrong, but I don't think he'll ever catch back up.

I'm going to spend alot of time watching the OL during the A-Day game. I'm excited about seeing what some of these new guys that were redshirted last season can do, and also I look forward to seeing the new approach that our offense coaching staff brings with regards to blocking techniques. I'm optimistic that we are going to see a huge improvement in our O-line blocking next season.

Just imagine what Andre will be able to do once he has been through CNS offseason Strength & Conditioning program!

Capps shoulder surgery will likely open the door for someone to take his starting position. He won't be lifting, something he desperately needed, and will be held out of contact drills.

This brings an interesting point. Will Andre loose some weight and play slimmer? For some reason I see him playing at 290 to 295 and being more of a menace than he was. If he can drop some of the baby fat he's carrying, I see...WOW! Chris Samuels all over again!
