If you can't get motivated to repay a beating from your cross state rival at home in front of a seemingly raucous crowd, something is wrong.

I'm not gonna go against everything ive stood up for earlier, but Gottfried has to answer for this late season meltdown by making some changes. If he won't, then Mal Moore may need to make some changes.

Injuries aside, this team just doesn't play in sync on offense or defense. Crazy shots, bad pass after bad pass.

And why does it always look like a hockey power play when we play defense? Four guys standing around, with the other one trying (Hendrix).

I think Gottfried will be on the hot seat if things don't vastly improve, we lost to Auburn TWICE by a combined 33 points...

not to mention the bench is outplaying our so called superstars...

I don't think Gottfried has lost the team as much as he just doesn't have a clue. His only quality is attracting talent. His teams start out rated 10th-20th in the nation, then he tries to lower expectations at SEC Media Days saying we're 'not a very good team' right now, next our talented team wins a few good games and a lot of cupcakes with raw talent, then people begin expecting us to win a lot of sec games and we only win half of them max, people figure us out and realize we have no inbounds plays and are extremely vulnerable to full court presses, they also realize we don't stress defense at all, we barely make the ncaa every year, occaisionally we get lucky and our players step up and overcome bad coaching, and more of the time we get embarrassed in a 1st or 2nd round game in which we are favored (sorry for the run-on sentence). Did I miss anything?

Yeah, the fact that we always seem to get beat by a "Verizon" League team early and they go on to be the Cinderella. lol

I think you're right. I wanted so badly for CMG to succeed with our BB program, but I don't think he's gonna be able to. He recruits well and you have to love how his kids stay out of trouble and do well academically, but apparently he can't coach worth a flip. I'd love to see him turn things around, but I'm not holding my breath.

Pretty much sums it up right there...

You're right lets get this guy out of here. I mean our most important player hasnt been close to 80% all year. Lets fire CMG, since his team only has 1 sr. Lets fire him because he's been to 5 NCAA tournys in a row. LEts fire this guy bc he continually gets good talent in here(which is mostly to young right now). And he brought us back to a good basketball program. Mal, would you please run up to Chapel Hill and bring Roy Williams down here or make a stop in Durham and bring Coach K back with you....Thanks a lot!

Let's see if we can make a few more excuses for a guy who has 3 winning SEC records in 9 seasons and has made it past the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament just once. I'm not saying we should fire him right now, but the excuses are getting old.

Lets stop making "GOING TO THE NCAA TOURNAMENT" sound like an accomplishment! All that means is that we finished in the top 6 or 7 "IN THE SEC". What an amazing feat. We are usually towards the bottom of that 6 or 7 and are spiraling downwards every February.

If you think CMG has a clue, I suggest watching our half court offense this past Saturday and refreshing yourself on how bad our coaching really is.

Looks like the trail is coming to an end for Gotfried. He has had plenty of time to build a championship contender but has not made much progress. Tired of hearing "how tough it is to win in the SEC"--enough excuses in advance for a loss. If we are to have a BB team that is a contender then we need a proven coach who knows the game, can get a team ready to play, can coach the team in a close game to win for a change. Mal Moore got the job done in getting Saban--no doubt he will win big. About time. He now need to hire a real SEC caliber coach who can get us to the next several levels so we can compete with FL, LSU, Ky, et all and the blue chip teams from other leagues. We are going nowhere now. No more excuses.

I agree. 2/3 of the 300+ D1 basketball teams are from small conferences and are not a factor in the selection process. Going to the NCAA Tournament is only slightly more difficult than qualifying for a bowl game.

Well, that's NOT what I thought about Shula a couple of months ago. However, I do think it about Gottfried. Shula had a lot of things going against him that never were all that public, but which had a great deal to do with his departure. Gottfried's guys go to class, graduate, if they stay around, and, generally don't disturb the sleep of the higher-ups. I know a lot of people don't think that's important or that it was factor in Shula's departure, but they're wrong...

I know I'm going to get flamed for this....but here it goes anyway. Check the schedule, we are 3-0 against LSU and UK this year. It's hard to believe we could beat them with our uninspired team and horrible coach. I really do wish that we could compete with them. What does that say about Tubby and Brady? sigh

Prior to this year, we had won 7 in a row against Tennessee and 8 in a row against Auburn. That didn't just happen.

Having said that, I'm not happy about this team's performance. It seems like a lack of effort, and that disturbs me. But it isn't a reason to get blood thirsty and fire your coach of 9 years. It's time for an attitude adjustment for our team and our fans, but I think we should give CMG a chance to do it.

Only 2 teams in the conference have made it to the tourny 5 yrs in a row (bama and UK) so it must mean that hes consistant. Obviously, it does mean something if you make it to the tourny or why would anybody start breaking down the bracket in January????

And since you "watched" the game Saturday, who was on the bench the whole time....RS aka the only PG on the team thats knows the offense (thats the reason the half court offense was bad).

Torrence-good ball handler, no concept of our offense
Hollenger- bad ball handler
Tubbs- good athlete with a limited basketball mentality
Gee- no determenation, intensity, sense of urgency

Not saying CMG is amazing by any means but....who are we going to get seriously thats going to take us to the next level

We beat UF last year, and played them to 9 at UF

We have beaten LSU 3 out of the last 4 times we have played them.

And in the past 2 years we are 2 and 1 against UK...

I'd say we are contending with those guys
