What song would you like to hear, when the Jumbo Trons kick on for the first game?

...everyone is so sick and tired of hearing that stupid song...

Speak for yourself.

I, for one, still love hearing it. That's not to say that other things might not be better; however, I look forward to it. Last season when the admin said "no more." I was upset, as were many students (or so it appeared from reading in the CW about the decision to can it.) At least last season when they did stop it at between the third and fourth quarters, they replaced it with "Sweet Home Alabama." Also, during the first time out of the fourth quarter, they still played "Basket Case."

With all the changes going on, it may well be a fine time to change what is done at the end of the third quarter, as well. As long as it is something positive, that is fine with me. Just don't go assuming that "everyone" is "sick and tired" of "Basket Case." Nothing could be farther from the truth.

"Crimson Tide" by Hans Zimmer from the movie Crimson Tide. That music sends chills up my spine. Just imagine how it starts out with the strings, then when the big drums kick in, let the team burst out onto the field. That would be electric.

I've always wondered why we never play that song. It would be a great backing for a video.

I'd love to hear Bob Dylan's "Ain't Talking" from the Grammy award-winning "Modern Times". It's a spooky song, and it lends itself to the ensuing slaughter.

But that's just me. :biggrin2:

If you didn't seem to hear it everywhere else, I would love to hear Metallica's "Sandman." But too many others have done it for too long for us to start now.

That song was played once upon a time before our games. I heard it a few times in 2004.

I would LOVE it if the MDB didn't play Basketcase.... everyone is so sick and tired of hearing that stupid song, lets just let Green Day play it.

you can't be further from the truth. basket case is a great song for the band to play, i just wish more of the fans would get into it. all the students love the song. it just isn't the fourth quarter untill they play that song. the band loves it. i think it's cool how they bring the tubas down the isles down it.

Basketcase is THE dumbest thing that can be played. I hate it. Im all for everyone having fun and enjoying music at the game but I just dont believe that the majority of people enjoy hearing that song. I hope we will just play songs that pump up the players. :BigA:

What he said....

I hope they do something different this year.

i have yet to hear why people don't like the song. how about giving a reason because, "i just don't like it".

We played it at Fayette County High when I was in the band. I hated it then as well. The song absolutely sucks and it has nothing to do with football. It ruins the atmosphere.

You can't hear Basketcase anymore anyway. They play "Sweet Home Alabama" over the PA now between the 3rd and 4th quarters.

I'm a band guy. I just hate it when they start playing music DURING the game when the band can play. That's their job. They enjoy playing and they have a role during the ball game. I say give them their time. This happened to my group a couple of times at home and I made sure the powers that be heard my opinion on the matter.

Now don't get me wrong; I love hearing "Sweet Home". I love hearing 92,000 people saying "Roll Tide Roll". The band gets slighted at that time.

Sorry some of you don't like the song.

Roll Tide!!
