Less Miles needs to shut up.

Why would any Bama fan want CLM gone? He took one of the most talented (if not the most) talented team in the country and nearly lost to far less inferior team. The near loss was NOT due to LSU overlooking Bama, but to other factors (coaching being one).

LSU has one of the most athletic defenses in the history of college football and Pellini has them getting off the bus blitzing. Why would someone want or need to blitz like a drunken German in a Parisian bar in 1941 with all that defensive talent? They have two D-linemen that are probably the best two on one DL since Curry and Copeland. They have LBs that could double as a track team and their DBs are absolutely awesome. Yet, they blitz like their lives depend on it versus a questionable OL that is one season removed from being totally horrible and egregiously under-coached. Teams that blitz a great deal are usually NOT real good or are not well-schooled in technique. Well, we know that they are very talented (Stevie Wonder can see that with his eyes closed), so what could it be? Hmmmm, I wonder?

It could just be Pellini's personality, I don't know. I watched them in amazement Saturday eveneing and asked myself all of the above questions and came to the following conclusions.

In short, I think LSU is the most under-coached, but talented football team that I have seen in a long time. Proof? Barely beat Bama and Auburn, and beaten by UK. Yeah, UK is not typical UK, but they are still UK and you cannot spell sUcKs without the U and the K. The good news is that Bama will be equal to LSU in talent soon and we know that the boys with the Crimson bonnets will be better coached, heck they were Saturday night (just outmanned).

I don't agree with these posts that basically say "we suck" and that we have no talent. Depth issues definitely, but we still have alot of talent just to clear that up. We should win more than we lose, regardless of the depth of the SEC or who's coaching.

Saban is a better coach IMO. I admired him at LSU. I love him now. He has all the characteristics of a great college coach. He is tough, charismatic, and just knows football in and out.

Miles is a very good coach. He comes off as a jerk at times to me, but I am a fan of a rival school. He comes across as an NFL coach to me. He seems to have that demeanor to me. LSU can and will be very successful with Les Miles as the coach. However, LM will have the same problem that every coach at Bama had since CPB retired. That being he's not the best the school has ever had.

OTH, Saban is being welcomed, rightfully so, as the best thing to happen to us since CPB retired. I look forward to both teams being successful and I hope the NC not just division championship is decided by our future contests.

I had to laugh at this for two reasons. This is the first time since the Vtech game that we have blitzed consistently, and second, this doesn't hold true for any defense LSU has had under either Pelini or Saban. I will laugh if you tell me that our 2003 defense with Saban at the helm wasn't really good because we blitzed nearly every play and I will do the same if you tell me that our 2005 D wasn't really good for the same reason.

amen, everyone is entitled to their own opinoin as long as anyone doesn't get abrasive. i wish we could all love on another - i wish i could remember the words to that song.

I don't swing that way. But I also don't judge people. :D

I'm sure you meant "love one another, right now". I think that was by Buffalo Springfield.

You're right about that. If the secondary, like LSU's, is good enough, hell, I'd blitz every play.

What I understand the least in this debate between LSU and Bama fans is this: Saban rebuilt LSU having come from a second-tier school. He built us up. Michigan State went to the tank after Saban left. LSU again hires a coach from a second tier school, who had a similar winning percentage to Saban, and was at a school that is historically sub-par, like Saban. Miles gets no credit for winning at Oklahoma State, beating an Oklahoma team that beat the best team Bama has had in the last 7 years (the 2002 team), and gets no credit for keeping the ship mostly steady. Both Saban's and Miles' replacements at their old jobs did not and are not doing as well as either of their predecessor's. So in my view, Saban and Miles are more alike than they are different.

I think that in 2005, no matter who was coach, we would have finished about where we did because of the hurricane. In 2006 I suspected, and this year seems to have proven me right, that our OC was too predictable, (in the last two games, our QB has thrown for 300 yards, yet the QB we had who was the number 1 pick in the draft only threw for 300 yards twice in his whole career. For that I firmly blame Jimbo), combined with the road schedule we did about as well as we could.

And not enough praise has gone to the administration at LSU for giving these coaches a shot. If Miles does leave, I am confident that the coach will be as good as Saban and Miles.

Boy, are YOU in for a rude awakening if you don't like overly aggressive blitzing packages!! (This is the first time in a LONG time I remember LSU blitzing that much...and I LOVED it...since this time, we only got burned deep once...and it wasn't at the end of the game)

Come on people now, smile on your brother everybody get together try to love one another right now.

I'll give you my thoughts, but remember in the grand scheme of things they only mean this to me. The reasons I see Les Miles as less of a coach than Saban aren't big things. For one, I don't think Miles could have changed the attitude of LSU as a whole the Saban did. He turned the tide in Bayou country in a way that hasn't been done since the hiring of Bo Rein. I'm not saying Miles couldn't have done well or even better, I just don't think he could have personally (there is only a small difference there).

The other reason is because he is completely insecure and acts like a fool. He came into Bryant Denny pre-game Saturday and proceeded to wave at the UA students that were already in the stands. He had this big goofy grin on and really looked like a moron doing it. Since when should a big time SEC coach of one of the most powerful programs in the country being paying any mind to the students of an opponent? He looked really foolish and I realized he will never be comfortable with what he has done otherwise he would be petty. This is the same reason I dislike Tuberville, he is petty and likes to rub things in everyone's face to make himself look stronger.

Again those are my thoughts, and most probably don't agree with me. I would like to hear what some of you LSU guys have to say. For the most part y'all are good folks who I can enjoy being around (especially if you feed me).

This is getting a little ridiculous, don't you think? That "idiot" is now 3-0 against Bama including 1-0 against Nick Saban. He has a record of 30-5 at LSU. Saban has already lost 3 at Bama.

Why all the hate? Why all the constant criticism of LSU's coach? I thought you guys didn't care about LSU. This is just baffling.

Well gee LSU21, I guess CLM is 30-5 at LSU because he has been at LSU alot longer than Saban has been at Bama not to mention feeding of Saban's recruits. This is only Saban first year at Bama in which he has done better than most expected.

Quite simply, until Miles wins 2 SEC titles and a BCS title with his own players, there will be no reason to compare him to Saban, in terms of skill, as a HC. Even if he wins both this year (which I think is likely)--while doing it with a team revolving around Saban's recruits will be nice--it still won't say much about Miles, necessarily. The reality is that probably a third of the BCS conference coaches could go 12-1 with the talent on LSU's roster.

As it stands now, based on fact, Saban > Miles. In a few years, that could change.

I think right now all you LSU fans should be worrying about getting to and winning the SEC title game more than Nick Saban.

Man, how long will this debate go on? (Yes I know I'm not helping, lol, but I've tried to stay out of it.)

I dont know what you guys are talking about. I thought kicking to Javier was a GREAT stroke of coaching genius and that brilliant move alone should prove to everyone how intelligent Lm is.

Here's my drunken opinion. There are a lot of bama fans that don't like Les Miles and there are a lot of LSU fans that don't like Nick Saban. The "reasons", "statistics", "facts" etc. are nothing more than window dressing. It has nothing to do with it. Some folks just don't like other folks and there ain't much you can say or do to change that. So why doesn't everyone just get it out in the open. Let's all say it together and move on

LSU FANS: "I DON'T LIKE NICK SABAN AND NEVER WILL."

BAMA FANS:"I DON'T LIKE LES MILES AND NEVER WILL."

Now, doesn't everybody feel better? So now there's no need for giving reasons because there are none. We just don't like each other. But we can still be friends. :PDT_Aliboronz_20:

Hit the nail right on the head. However, let either of our teams get to the national championship at any time in the future, and you'll see a sea of purple, gold, crimson, blue, orange, red, and any other SEC color pulling for that team.

I think the comments are just plain rivalry jibberish. I have a lot of respect for both Miles and Saban. They both have been miles above the Dinardos, Hallmans, and that crazy dude who took the bama players to the strip club that we have had. I hope the LSU-Bama game replaces the OSU-Michigan, Oklahoma-Texas, and other big games. It may already have.

To LSU posters:

I never said I did NOT like blitzing, I just gave the different reasons that I have been told why teams blitz and I said I believe that it is Pellini's personality.

None of yall really responded to my point about the fact that LSU was nearly beaten by a team that they were clearly better than and probably because they blitzed like crazy. Without the blitzing JPW would have picked them apart. No one can run on LSU when they show up to play.

Also, no one addressed the point that Bama will soon have the cupboard fully stocked for the first time since the 90s and what will the rest of the West do then? Great talent that is coached up properly is a lethal combination.

For the record: I think blitzing defenses are exciting and fun to watch, unless it is my team that is being blitzed on.

Oh yeah, I want LSU and Ohio State to win out so we can again see a one loss SEC beat an undefeated OSU. OK, Tigers, hold serve and make it happen.

But it should not be forgotton that Les inherited a 9-3 team from Nick and went 11-2 with it. Twice.
