I was coming home from class this morning and saw some workers where the south end zone would be. I don't how important this is to the actual thing getting going, but they were drilling test wells in the concrete right outside the stadium where the South endzone will be. Maybe Alex can run by there and post some pics bc I'm not allowed to do so on here.

Re: South Endzone Expansion update!!

Set up a free account at Photobucket, Putfile or another free hosting site and upload your pix to your account, then link it to this site by copying and pasting. The Photobucket software makes it easy - you get a drop-down below the pic, and when you click on the "img" tag, it pops up and says "copied." Then you just make your post here, right click and select "paste."
And - "Voila!" your pic appears here...

Re: South Endzone Expansion update!!

Could someone give an update on this!
If I remember correctly when I was at the A-Day game this year I heard an annousement at the stadium that the University had surpassed the goal of donations for the expansion of the south end zone. It seems that the original goal was something like 50 or 60 million and the University had achieved that number and then some like in the neighborhood of 65 or 70 million. But I really can't remember and could be way off on the $ amounts could someone clear this up for us all.

I'll head over after class today which won't be till about 4:30, any they'll probably be gone by then....college would be much better without classes.

Re: South Endzone Expansion update!!

There is absolutly NO WAY they can expand the stadium until they get 20/59 fixed. 93,000 is a lot of people. Throw in road construction on 20/59 and you get the huge mess on Saturday.

Re: South Endzone Expansion update!!

Drove by it this morning on my way to Coleman to help run a workout. I wondered if it had anything to do with the expansion. I'll be out driving today so I'll try to grab my camera and take a couple pictures.

Re: South Endzone Expansion update!!

The city of Tuscaloosa isn't exactly made for high volume in my opinion. The tailgating and pregame, absolutely fantastic. The traffic, two lane University Blvd., 20/59 in and out of the city. The city around the University is a few years behind for handling volume. I think this is mostly due to the fact we were playing most of our big games at Legion Field, all the home games being in Tuscaloosa is great, I gurantee that city is going to look a lot better in about 5-10 years, more night life, nicer streets, more of those high rise apartments.

Re: South Endzone Expansion update!!

It'll be 3 years minimal before any sort of expansion would be complete. Personally I've never had any major problems getting in and out of town on game day. I don't even attempt getting on the interstate when leaving, just take back highways. Going to the game is never a real big issue because people are coming in at different times.

I will be glad when they expand the stadium again however.

That was the Crimson Tradition Fund. It was not anything specific to a south end zone expansion.

From what I have been told, it appears that Mal Moore will announce the south end zone expansion this month and they hope to have construction started in December.

Re: South Endzone Expansion update!!

They had a ton of guys out there with police cars with their lights on watching them. I couldn't figure out what in the world was going on, but the first thing I thought of was the expansion, but they were parking cars so I dont think that was it.

The plans were really accelerated as a result of the long waiting list for TP subsequent to the Saban hire, and the need for more seating for students due to increased enrollment. I would think that they will have some artist renderings when the announcement is made.

I wish my company would bid on that, get the contract, appoint me P.M. on it and move me down to T'town for 12-18 months, however long they will project it. That would be SWEET!!!
