From Hogwired:

Again, right now, I’m excited. Chancellor (John A.) White and Coach (Frank) Broyles want me here. They want me to stay and that’s a good feeling and I’m excited about that.

Could be. Some of my friends in "R-Kansas" and Alumni are sort of glad of this anyway. Many feel like, "If Nutt leaves, who is out there that we can get and be as successful."

I'm suprised that Borges name isn't popping up for some of these vacancies.
I think Borges has gotten worse over the past couple of years with Tubbs. The offense that I saw the other night was awfully "vanilla" and boring! They haven't exactly been "world beaters" when coming up against SEC competition and out of conference. They have a very "opportunistic" offense and just don't make a lot of mistakes.

I think they have the same problem we have. QB issue.

But, when Cox first started they had a more "smorgesboard" type offense where they were pressing defenses up and down the field. Maybe they are just playing "not to lose" and that seems to be a trend with teams that are successful for a while (See the demise of FSU).

I would agree on all counts, except on Nutt. He's toast, in my opinion.
That's too bad. I honestly do not believe Nutt gets the respect he deserves. Arky goes 8-4 and possibly to the Cotton bowl this year. Arky loses some games in the beginning of the season because their offense becomes one dimensional(spelling?) with Monk's injury, but bounces back late in the season to beat #1, not to mention SECCG in 2006 and 2002.

Muschamp & Smart go Waaaay Back

One issue here is that Muschamp and Kirby Smart are best friends.

Muschamp got on with Chris Hatcher at Valdosta State. Muschamp got Smart on at Valdosta.

Hatcher recommended Muschamp to Saban. Muschamp then got Smart on with Saban. Saban goes to the Pros.

Muschamp goes to the Pros with Saban. Smart goes to UGA based on Bobo's recommendation (the third of these three best buddies from UGA) Tuberville gets Muschamp at the Barn.

Saban loses Muschamp and then purloins Smart from UGA. Saban goes to UA and brings Smart with him.

If Muschamp gets a HC job anytime soon, chances are real high that Smart will be DC.

If Bobo gets a HC job, likely either Smart or Rodney Garner will get the DC job.

Sounds like you have some insight...who do you think NS would bring in to replace Smart?

That's it for me - I'm outta Gas and just a Busbozo.

Ga Tech is hot for Paul Johnson, but

Johnson can probably do better. He noted at the Macon TD club that he had been formally contacted about the UA job before the Tide settled on Saban.

If'n I was in the market for an up & coming D guy - It would be Giff Smith at Tech should Gailey get canned (perhaps a Ole Miss candidate himself?) anyways, Giff is an Erk Russell guy and a whale of a recruiter.

.
.

Smith came to Tech in 2004 after five seasons at Tulane University. While at Tulane, Smith coached the Green Wave's defensive line all five years while serving as recruiting coordinator his last three years. He also held the title of associate head coach.

Giff Smith is in his third season on the Georgia Tech staff as defensive line coach, and for 2006 was promoted to recruiting coordinator.

Smith helps coach a Tech unit that has ranked among the nation's Top 25 in rushing defense, pass efficiency defense, total defense and scoring defense each of his four seasons. In particular, the Yellow Jackets have been among the nation's Top 15 against the run all four years.

A native of the Atlanta surburb of Mableton, he attended Pebblebrook High School and then played and coached at Georgia Southern.

A 1991 graduate of Georgia Southern, Smith was a member of three NCAA I-AA national championship teams at the school in 1986, 1989 and 1990. A three-time all-America defensive end, he helped the Eagles to a perfect 15-0 mark in 1989, and as a senior in 1990, he served as team captain.

Smith began his coaching career in 1991 as a graduate assistant at Arkansas, where remained three years before moving to Georgia for two seasons.

He later spent three seasons at his alma mater, working with the wide receivers in 1996 and then the secondary in 1997-98. During his time on the staff, the Eagles won a pair of Southern Conference titles (1997-98) and advanced to the NCAA I-AA national championship game in 1998.

Smith was inducted into the Georgia Southern University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2000.

I have to agree with most the posters here, who is Ark going to get that is better than Nutt? Seriously. He won 10 games last year, could win 9 this year, who is out there that is better? He may take another job, considering the lack of respect he has gotten from the Admin but he shouldn't be fired. If he is fired, look for him to pop up at Ole Miss or maybe even A&M. I don't understand the vemon for the Ark fans, he has made Ark relevent again. Period.

Ole Miss - Fran (not likely, but something I had heard), Bobby Johnson (unlikely too, but would be a smart move on both parts) Muschamp (most likely)

UK - if brooks retires, you think they would get Joker Phillips?(their OC)

Guy Morriss is availiable now, Could see Dan Mullen get some job offers, as will Charlie Strong.

That would be awesome. Highly unlikely, but still awesome.
