Petrino to Arkansas

Re: Petrino to Arky? (Espn Confirmed)

Hey it's their signature. Just embarassing that they'd do it at a press conf.

Met a guy several months ago who played for Petrino in Louisville. It was during our coaching search and Petrino's name was surfacing as a candidate. He said he couldn't stand Petrino and had in fact quit and was walking on somewhere else.

Said Petrino treated everyone terribly and they were motivated by fear to play well.
Now that could be one player's opinion and he could be the greatest coach at Ark since Broyles. And as beloved.

What Hall said sure sounded familiar.

Nutt called the hogs when got the job there years ago. I remember seeing a clip of it. He didn't need the cheerleaders to lead it, since he had played there. Ole Miss fans also did "hotty toddy" at the Nutt PC. Not as corny as the hogs, but still a tad out of place.

Was it just me or did the guy introducing Bobby P sound sort of like "Kermit"?? "Please welcome Bobby Petrino, Yea!!"

As far as recruiting, IMO CBP will indeed be a threat to us. While at UL he recruited AL hard and had more than a few successes.

Re: ESPN vs Petrino

On my way into work tonight I was listening to "Game night" on ESPN and they were showing CBP no mercy. Quite boring, actually. :BigA:

Re: ESPN vs Petrino

They'll sweep this incident under the rug, much like they did Pete Carol and USC. As long as it doesn't involve an Alabama controversy, then it's not worth going after.

All I have to say is they can suck number 13 (NC) or 22 (SEC) immediately following the delivery courtesy of "Nick Satan." Pucker up and take your pick, ESPN (excluding Herbstreet, May, and Davis).

PS: Dan Lebatard is a female dog.

Re: ESPN vs Petrino

To heck with expn. Things just got real interesting in the SEC west. The SEC overall has the best and best paid coaches on the planet. With Petrino's offensive prowess, he could drag a lot of big recruits his way from every other team in the SEC. Whew, I think Petrino at Arkansas is a very big deal.

He'll only be a big deal if he can hire a decent DC. Other than that i'm not scared.

Re: Petrino to Arky? (Espn Confirmed)

The recruiting rankings on rivals.com have one-fifth of the top 25 schools as SEC west schools. That means that only one school in the West (MSU) does not, at this point, have a top 25 recruiting class.

Additionally, the SEC West coaches list now reads: Nick Saban, Les Miles, Bobby Petrino, Tommy Tuberville, Houston Nutt, and Sly Croom.

Between recruiting classes and celebrity coaches, the SEC west looks to be SICK in the next few years.

Re: Petrino to Arky? (Espn Confirmed)

As a Falcons fan, I have mixed emotions regarding Petrino leaving. In one hand, I'm a bit ticked at the abruptness of it all. This coming the day after he coached a monday night NFL game, also with 3 games left in the season..

On the other hand, if he wasn't happy in the NFL and wanted to be a college coach again.. then maybe it was best to go ahead and resign early. At least this way, the Falcons will get a head start on the coaching search and can hopefully land a quality coach with NFL experience. (crossing fingers for Cowher :) )

As far as Deangelo Hall's comments go.. I don't agree with everything he said, but I can relate with the way he's feeling. Mostly, I'm curious if those comments will have any effect on Petrino in the future w/recruiting..

Petrino knew things weren't working out for him there. The owners knew it, the players knew it. Essentially his leaving, even as abruptly as it was, was in the best interest of everyone involved. His being offered the Arky job was the final deal-breaker for the Falcons and deal-maker for the Razorbacks. IMO it's a winning situation for everyone.
Good move on his part, and congrats to the Hawgs on a great hire. As has been said before, the SEC is getting stronger and stronger.

Re: Petrino to Arky? (Espn Confirmed)

I am getting old enough to see that karma matters. I think Petrino is a football hobo who cares little about anything other than his ego, his paycheck, and his winning percentage. He is the reincarnation of Coach Fran and other itinerants who tell schools and their fans what they want to hear. He may sooey like a Hog but he will eventually sully their trust and their program.

And as long as I am being particularly self-righteous - 3 cups of coffee does that to me- I think this is the most important point. Kids won't want to play for him. He may recruit some great ones but down deep, his players won't trust him and I'd bet we won't see many 11-2 records in Fayetteville. Hog fans will grow tired of him in 3-4 years and that will be that.

What kind of talent will Petrino be able to bring to Ar-Kansas?

Does anyone think that he'll be able to consistently convince 4 and 5 star talent to come to Fayetteville?... I don't...

Arnold from Green Acres High gave a verbal just after last nites presser. Said something about hearing momma calling. He's a little small but quick and hard to catch; rivals states he runs like a greased pig and lists him as a 4 start "athlete". If CBP can land a few more like him, he can make a lot of bacon at Arky.
