As a Falcons fan, I'm disappointed.

As an Alabama fan, I'm disappointed.

As a normal person, I don't blame Petrino for abandoning ship. He would have been a complete fool to stay. Why stick around for a few extra bucks when you have little to no control to ameliorate a situation which will likely be mired in failure?

Sucks that Petrino is in the West now, but I doubt he'll compete much with us in recruiting, which is the big thing. One more tough game just got a little tougher for us though.

Re ATL, I wouldn't be surprised if Blank told him he could leave. The Falcons situation is outright disastrous and probably embarassing to the owner. It could get better, but it could also become almost as bad as the Dolphins' (nah).

Hopefully the Vick apologists will get some degree of a clue as to what the idiot Vick did to the Falcons organization, though that's pretty unlikely to happen. You can tell how much contempt Blank has for Vick, and I don't blame him. Could you imagine investing hundreds of millions of dollars in a pro team only to have the team go into the toilet because some stupid moron ran a dog-fighting ring? I'd be suing Vick up and down the east coast if I were Blank, fan-base be damned. Of course Vick is probably broke, but I would still do it to further humiliate him out of spite.

I thought the presser was good with Petrino getting off softly with regards to dumping the Falcons before the season ended. He sure presents himself professionally, a change from Nutt.
But, that hog call cheer really ruined the moment. For Arkansas, I was embarrassed.

ESPN vs Petrino

It will be interesting to see if ESPN goes after Petrino after his denial that he resigned by phone. One reporter stated in the presser that ESPN was reporting that he did and he came back with a stern "that is not true". My opinion is that ESPN would probably have given him a free ride but something tells me not so now. You don't buck ESPN. We will see.
