John Mark Stallings has passed away

John Mark Stallings passes

Former CGS's son John Mark has passed to a better world. Anyone who ever knew him will remember him as one of the most loving individuals who ever walked the earth. It is a sad day for the Stallings but Gene always said John Mark was one of the luckiest people on the earth with a straight pass to heaven.

May God watch over the family through this difficult time. John Mark was a fine man who brought smiles to everyone he met.

Re: John Mark Stallings passes

For sure, John Mark is now in a better place. I always had such admiration for Gene Stallings and his wife for keeping John Mark close to them and their consistant love and dedication they had for this special young man. There were no hidden agendas toward John Mark, never pushed into the background or stuck away in a special needs home somewhere. He was fortunate to have such caring parents.

A sad day for the Stallings family and for the Bama nation.

John Mark loved the Alabama Crimson Tide more than anyone.

Gene Stallings story

Talking about life recently former Alabama head football coach Gene Stallings told the following story regarding his love and relationship with his son John Mark.

"John Mark loves Alabama more than anyone alive. When I go to bed at night I hear Eli Gold in my sleep. When I get up in the morning, he usually is watching an Alabama game. Several weeks ago I saw him watching a copy of the 92' National Championship game. My heart swelled with pride knowing I was a part of something he cares so much about.

Later that evening, we were skipping rocks on a creek at our ranch when I realized what a special moment this was. How blessed am I to have such a special relationship with my boy?

I reached down and scrubbed his head and said 'Son, who is your favorite Alabama coach?

He looked at me with no hesitation and replied 'Nick Saban'."

****

I've heard several other stories from Coach Stallings that I wish I could remember.

My prayers are with the Stallings family. "Johnny" will always hold a special place in the hearts and minds of 'Bama fans. He is in a better place.

Re: John Mark Stallings passes

A big loss for the Alabama family and the Stallings. I'll always remember that shot of him cheering his heart out in the Superdome on that special night. He's definitely very high up on the list of all-time Bama fans and will be missed. Prayers to the Stallings family.

Re: John Mark Stallings passes

Stallings family in my prayers-- Hopefully we will remember him during one of the games this year.

My sympathies go to Coach Stallings and his wife. I had the honor of meeting John Mark one time in 1993 and he was, by far, the most enthusiastic Alabama fan I've ever met.

I know today he is happier than ever as I am sure he is being introduced to a gentleman named Paul, his father's old friend and mentor. I am sure the two of them are enjoying an ice-cold Coca Cola and some crispy Golden Flakes talking through the best parts of the history of the Crimson Tide.

My prayers go out to the Stallings family. John Mark was the perfect example of a Bama fan. I say let's dedicate the season to John Mark and let the Tide Roll!

I feel so sorry for Coach Stallings and his family. I'll never forget watching Coach Stallings put Johnny's coat on him once when the weather turned cold. The care and tenderness he showed as he buttoned it up for Johnny and then fixed the collar and smoothed it was was a display of pure, unadultrated love. I almost felt like an intruder for watching.

Johnny was indeed special. His love for Alabama was unconditional, win or lose. We could all take a lesson from him. The BAMA Nation will miss him. :BigA::BigA::BigA:

Very, very, sad news. My condolences and sympathies to Coach Stallings and his family. I don't know if there was a bigger Alabama fan around than John Mark.
