Great article by Stewart Mandel on the bias in the coaches poll

BCS SchmeeCS The BCS is neither fish (old bowl system) nor fowl (playoff system), yet pretends it is the best of both worlds. For my money, it is worse than either. Or, as Coach would have said, anything that can't be settled after a regular season plus a bowl game ought to stay unsettled.

PLEASE post Cotton Bowl info here...food, drink, hotels, transportation, etc.

Nice business hotel. Recently (within last 5-7 years) renovated. Not much around it at night (downtown is deserted after working hours).

A little enthusiasm for the Cotton Bowl...please!?!?!?!

Dallas is a drinking town, so in many ways it's like Tuscaloosa, only bigger, flatter and minus anything you' d recognize as college football.

Too numerous to mention You can't go wrong, really. The section of Lower Greenville between Ross and Belmont is packed and diverse - something for everyone. The Blarney Stone is my favorite, but then I am Irish and therefore biased in favor of the best Guinness. Deep Ellum (Elm and Main...

Morning Musings: A commentary on Bowl Selections, Coach Moore and what could've been

If I'm not mistaken, this all changes next year, when the SEC's bowl agreements stipulate that the SECCG loser cannot fall beyond a certain bowl - the Outback I think. Had that agreement been in place this year, the picture would have been different, and I doubt we'd be playing in Dallas January...

    Simpson's cavalcade of college football

Check out the following url. It's pretty good http://heyjennyslater.blogspot.com/2005/12/letting-no-good-idea-go-unstolen-its.html Blogger nails Teensie, aTm and BC especially. Not too keen on the Alabama characterization, but no one's perfect.

As of Right Now: Your Coach of the Year?

Shula had a case, but lost my vote by sending Brodie on straight drop backs time after time against Auburn's hellacious pressure. No one can seriously expect Coach of the Year consideration if he shows no ability, mid-game, to think and adjust. Brodie could not have fared worse with a target on...

Texas Tech fans are pretty confident hopefully their spelling reflects their team!!!

Ah Lubbock..famed refuge for Canadians and Britons seeking a fall residence from which to enjoy the college football they would otherwise, in their native lands, be denied. As for Tech's offense, the SandAggies put up an average of 42 points per game, but if you back out Sam Houston State...

    Would you forgive Fran?

Would You Forgive Fran? I already have, thanks to his performance at A&M and Shula's relative success. Now, instead of despising fRan, I pity him, because I believe his self-delusions render him incapable of understanding why he is failing at A&M after his success at Alabama and elsewhere. The...

    Observations From South Bend

Re: Observations From South Bend and RoLL TiDE (sic) 13 26 4Q Basket Case: Thank you for representing Alabama so well in South Bend. Your observations from the Golden Dome are, in my opinion, as accurate as they are eloquent. As I get older (and I hope a tad wiser), I cease to hold grudges...
