25-26 Roster Discussion/Speculation

But can he play defense? The video I saw of him was all offense. Maybe there’s another 🤷🏻‍♂️.

Yeah, IIRC, the video showed a few clips of him guarding the rim, but most of those "highlight" videos are offensive plays.

But, in answer to your question, he's a seven footer. That makes up for a lot of other weaknesses. He looks pretty skinny, so he could use some lbs., but 7 footers don't grow on trees. Especially the kind that can shoot the 3 and put the ball on the floor.

I HOPE he comes back only for a final season of playing basketball. Like you said, I don't think he goes professional at any level. Simply for the risk of injury.

Not sure I've ever seen a more consistent shooter from 3, the guy is unreal.
His response was something about whether he wanted to continue playing basketball at all. Which if that’s the case, I respect that. At some point, you move onto the next thing in life.

Honestly I don’t think

Honestly I don’t think he should with the injury history. The concussions add up and change your life. Granted if he gets offered a decent amount of money my young self would take it and risk it vs how I think now.

"Thank You" and Hardhat Award to CajunCrimson for what you do for this board.

⛑

Posted again. He earned it.:)
Thanks. That’s actually a very cool idea for the basketball board. I wonder if there’s a way for our regular basketball posters to achieve a hardhat using metrics or statistics

Thank you for the sentiment, and thanks for the idea. Not sure what we can do, but let’s explore.

It's interesting, because I think Mallette was intended to replace Griffen, in terms of being a lengthy guard that can provide reliable 3 and D. He got hurt so, the Griffen loss ended up hurting a lot more than probably was expected. I think Mallette said he was returning, so we may not really need Griffen, but if we're going to a roster size of 15, it certainly wouldn't hurt to try to get Griffen back too.

Not sure we beat North Carolina without him last year.

I posted the following in the Portal thread before I realized this Roster Discussion thread had been started:

I think Reid only played a handful of games in which he was near 100% healthy. There were a few stretches when he looked like the best player on the court. I'm thinking (hoping) that he gets completely healthy and becomes a real factor. He has a good combination of size and skill and looks pretty strong for a freshman.

I thought Rylan Griffeth was a good player for us, and I agree, I think we missed him. He was a pretty good 3 point shooter and, when he got hot he could take over a game. And he grew an inch or two and got really long IIRC.

Just wondering out loud if we thought Stevenson was just a bigger version of him and we didn't need him? IDK.

Did Sam Walters improve at Michigan?

I know he can shoot, but he was a defensive liability. Remember him being too slow.
